G-BODY STREET / STRIP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cq63nrOkFas SEE VIDEO LINK ABOVE OF THIS '81 CHEVY MALIBU IN ACTION & BUILDER'S NARRATIVE!This 1981 Chevrolet Malibu was built to be a real hot rod street car that is capable of mid 5 second eight mile passes. It has less than 1000 miles on this combination with thousands of dollars in hard receipts. This car has a tough-as-nails 408 LQ9 iron block based stroker V8 with 3 stages of Nitrous paired with a built 'Glide, turning 4.11 cogs & a spool/mini-spooled 9-Inch Ford rear with 31-Spline Axles. The car is currently tuned for street driving & is reliable to cruise in. You can run 91 octane pump gas on the current tune. This car with the proper fuel & tune is capable of 1000 horsepower on spray. High quality internals, heads, fuel system, etc. Be sure to play the video and learn a lot about this car as it cruises down the street. The owner/builder gives a GREAT narrative about this Malibu. You can email myself, Sam, or give Spencer (Owner / Builder, a call direct at 469-569-1412 with any questions. The car is overall exceptionally solid througout. The hood is a lift-off fiberglass unit by HarWood with a 6" cowl. INTERIOR - Clean factory bucket seating. Dash has some cracks. Master off ignition, start, fuel pump, electric fan, plate, fogger, Purge plate, & purge fogger. The launch limiter/transbrake/nitrous controller are all wired so you pull in, push the trans button, it holds mat the go pedal to the floor it comes on the limiter. Come off the button on the floor and both kits come on progressively through the controller. The car does not have a line lock and a shift annoyed that are not wired. BRAKES - Stock G-Body Brakes converted to manual, car could definately use a brake upgrade, but fully functional. NEGATIVES & EXTRAS - No Wiper Motor - Arm Assembly & Wipers Intact / Turn Signals & Bright Lights Not Working - Arm Broken / Horn Inop / The headlights, tail lights, brake lights, marker lights, emergency flashers, interior dimmer, and interior lights are all working. Basically, just the lights controlled by the multi turn signal switch is not currently working. FROM SPENCER's WORKSHOP "The car has been a best of a 5.80@121mph on a 150 pill in the plate. It's a really fresh build, only been to the track a few times, only once giving both kits a try. The car works well but I've found it needs a tighter converter. It's made it's fastest pass on the least nitrous. I hit it with 400 on both kits and the motor loves it but it blows through the converter and put it right onto the limiter. I'm sure it's got the 5.50 goal or better in it on a kill tune and tighter converter. That said where it really shines is street driving it's a caddy, pump gas no problem, doesn't get hot hardly have to turn on the fan, it purrs down the highway at 70mph no problem, it's super comfortable, just a bit load... Lots of attn to detail on the build in the driving department." More From Spencer's Workshop/Desk ; Side notes: The car weighs 3520# with me in it, I weigh 280# it scales nicely close to 48/52. Manual brake in manual steering conversion, car was originally a standard shift car and still has clutch pedal and shifter boot in the floor. I started this build 4 years ago after I raced a true street no prep event in my low 6sec Nova (no cage, bench seat, steel wheels, sleeper type car) it was a drive in the gate race. One of the first South no prep races. I runner up that night and it got me super excited. So I built this car around a 5.50 goal as a dedicated street car first and race car second knowing I'd be competing in races that forced you to drive to the track or do a 50-mile cruise. The no prep scene blew up and by the time I finished the car last year as the class was dipping into the 4s. I thought I'd take it on drag week witch also blew up into a money game. That the type of car it really is, just a bit behind the curve.
