Rare 1967 Chevrolet Caprice big block 396 automatic transmission 2 door barn find from the 2nd owner.
Drivetrain- This Caprice is an original 396 car equipped with factory air conditioning and a turbo 400 transmission. It currently has a 307 small block in it that does run as the 2nd owner experienced a bit of blow by in the original 396 engine and replaced it to have the 396 rebuilt but it never happened. The original engine with all bracketry is included with the car/sale. The engine code is TO328IV.
Interior- It seems to be all intact but in need of some restoration....please refer to pics.
Body- The body is complete other than a missing LH rear quarter extension. The doors look fairly solid. The quarters have rust in the lower pockets as can be seen in the pics. The truck lid seems fairly solid but the parting line at the rear underside has some deep surface rust. The hood seems fairly solid as well but like the trunk the front parting line has some deep surface rust as well. The fenders are solid until the portion at the rear of the front wheels..refer to pics. The floor pans from what I examined are completely rust free. The trunk however does have a couple rust holes around the baby mounts.
Suspension/Frame- The Caprice has drum brakes on all 4 corners. The 2nd owner purchased stainless steel lines and a new master cylinder which are all included and can be seen in the trunk picture. The frame looks solid but I did notice some plates from possibly a previous repair around the curved area under the front door/fender line. It looks really clean but I know this is a problem area amongst these particular cars.
