After many years (almost 40!) it is time to downsize and reduce my collection and museum of classic vehicles! I will be moving to smaller accommodations and will only have room for a couple favorites. Up for sale is a STUNNING 1979 Chevrolet 1/2 ton full sized 8 foot box Fleetside pickup truck. This is also the seldom seen "Bonanza" model! Many of you may recall that Chevrolet sponsored the popular Western Sunday night TV show of the same name for many years. They capitalized on this association by naming a lot of their pickup truck models for Western themes. Very few of these trucks were specifically named "Bonanza" models! This is an original "Survivor" un-restored example that has always been garaged and only has 49. 00 original miles! Only modification is that when truck was new. the original AM radio was taken out and replaced with an after market AM/FM/Cassette that fit the existing dash cavity without cutting it up. Everything else on this truck is completely stock. right down to the spare tire! Nice. solid. straight body. not wrecked or rusted. Original floors and bed are excellent. too! Most of these vintage pickups have been beat up and/or heavily modified. Many are bondoed up rust buckets. Not this one! Both owners before me where extremely fussy and careful. as am I. Mechanically. truck runs awesome as you would expect! V8 engine is strong and powerful. Transmission shifts great! Rides unbelievably. smooth and tight. not a rattle trap like many of these get to be. I would not hesitate to drive anywhere! Not too many options: just 2-tone paint. automatic transmission. ps. pb. stereo. tilt steering wheel. and deluxe wheel discs. This is how I like my vehicles. without a lot of extraneous stuff that can break. go wrong. and cost money. Paint still holds a great shine. Not faded. thin. or cracked up. Chrome and brightwork are also straight. bright. and very nice. Interior is immaculate! No rips. tears or holes. It is very obvious that this truck lived a charmed life and was very well cared for. This is the best of all worlds. You can take it to car shows and cruise ins. display in your own collection or museum. take it on vintage tours. or if so inclined. use it as a regular vehicle. Much better and much cheaper to buy and own than today's computerized plastic overpriced trucks. Doesn't have to pass any complicated state inspections. and parts support is unbelievable for these vintage Chevy trucks! Parts are unbelievably easy to find and cheap to buy! Best of all. you are buying a vehicle that will not depreciate if you keep it nice. Buy a new truck and it will depreciate more than the cost to buy this truck on the ride home from the showroom! Most importantly. remember. "Survivor" vehicles are where the vintage car hobby is headed. Anyone with a big checkbook can restore a derelict from the "dead". but they are only original and stock ONCE! If someone GAVE you a "project vehicle" you could not restore it for what you can buy this "turn key" truck for! They just don't come along like this very often. Don't miss it!ABOUT ME: I have been classic car hobbyist. enthusiast. and trader for nearly 40 years! My museum/ collection favors nice original "Survivor" cars from the mid 1950s to about 1980.
