Car description

Up for auction is this stunning 1970 Chevelle SS 396 L78 375 hp 4 speed. I'm selling it for my friend Jim but I know the car well. As you can see in the pictures it is documented with its original build sheet. It was fully media blasted and taken right down to its bare metal. Then rotisserie restored. New NOS quarter panels were installed and NOS wheel houses. The rest of the car was perfect and rust free. This restoration took 3 years to complete. It drives as good as it looks and it only has 100 miles on it since its nut and bolt restoration. All new glass and complete interior. The car came with tons of NOS parts which were used on this restoration. The paint was wet sanded and polished to a mirror reflection Base coat clear coat.
The last picture has a site listedthat has lots of pictures of the car.
I personally had the pleasure to do some work on this amazing car. My old 1970 LS6 convertible sold yesterday at Mecum auctions in Indy for an amazing $385,000.00 USD WOW! Built by Cam's Classic Restorations Ltd. Showing that the values are on the rise for these 70 chevelle's.

3-year nut and bolt rotisserie restoration completed in 2016 Correctly re-stamped L78 block with correct casting numbers & heads Muncie 4-speed transmission M21 Positraction differential 355 Power steering & power disk brakes Cowl induction non functional hood Cranberry Red (75) with stripe delete Black bucket seat interior Super Sport wheels White letter BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires Original Build Sheet Interest in Chevrolet's big-block Chevelles has exploded in recent years, much of it directed at the street-stomping 454/450 HP LS6, which enjoyed a single-year run before choking on ever-tightening government controls. In contrast, the longest-lived big-block high-performance engine in the Chevelle was the raucous L78 Special High Performance V-8, a solid-lifter, high-compression beast possessed of a free-breathing 375HP, high-revving nature that made it a force to reckon with in Super Stock drag racing and the stoplight grand prix—and what a sound! For the 1970 model year the 396 was bored 0.030 inches, resulting in a 402 cubic inch engine. Despite this, the motor was still badged as a 396. 1970 was also the final production year for the L78. Although 1970 LS6 Chevelles are generally more collectible today, 1970 L78 Chevelles are in fact rarer (4,475 units versus 2,144). The example offered here is fresh from a nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration completed in 2016. During the restoration the body was media blasted and stripped down to bare metal. This Chevelle SS features the correctly restamped restoration L78 block with correct casting numbers and the correct 291 square port heads, mated to a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission. It is backed with a Positraction differential; power steering and power brakes were highly recommended extras. Its Cranberry Red (75) paint looks great with the cowl hood delete. It has the SS badging and five-spoke Super Sport wheels. The Black interior is typical of a no-nonsense approach to commanding one of these muscle machines: bucket seats and a floor-mounted original Muncie shifter. Never shown since the restoration.
Transmission numbers are as follows: 10A103813 & P0M19B; this decodes as: 1 Chevrolet division, 0 for 1970, A for Lakewood Plant Atlanta, Georgia, then the last 6 digits of the VIN. P is for Muncie, 0 is for 1970, M is for August 19th 1969, B is for M21. Rear end numbers are as follows: CKF 1016B1; this decodes as: 355 positraction assembled October 16 Buffalo plant shift 1. 3969278NF is the casting number with a casting date of J 2 9, which decodes as cast October 2nd, 1969. The restamped block decodes as follows T1002CKO Tonawanda built October 2nd, 1969 375hp 396 with manual transmission.
