Car description |

I purchased this rust-free California truck two years ago from the original owners. They had added a dealer-installed camper shell and always used the vehicle as an SUV, which explains its excellent overall condition.Carpet has always covered the pristine bed, and a seat cover (since removed by me) has kept the upholstery in like-new condition. The dash and steering wheel arealso in like-new condition. In addition to the dual gas tanks, previous owner also replaced the stock tranny with a Turbo 400. (Note: It appears some of the panels have been re-painted, and while overall the paint job looks pretty good, it's not quite as perfect as most of the pictures suggest.)
Here are the main things I'vereplaced inthe two years I've had it:
* windshield
*12si alternator
*battery
*fuel pump
*heater blower motor
*original grille (still havethe oldcustom grille)
*heavy-duty sunshade, Chevy bow-tie floor mats
*shop manual and wiring diagrams (to go with original owner's manual)
Note: the switch for the dual gas tanks is hooked up backwards. (Just needs a couple of wires reversed but I've never gotten around to it.)
Now -- the main reason I'm selling it: I'm told I can no longerlegally registerit in the state of California unless I add a smog pump and a couple of other things. This despite the fact the vehicle has spent the entirety of its 40 yearlifein this state, and never had a problem with passing smog before. Asthe smog station person explained it to me, relatively lax Federal standards had always been used in the past, but for some reason now they're applying the more-stringent California standards. So I'm out of luck unless I can scrounge together a smog pump, bracket, hoses, etc. to make up the "air injection system". After trying in vain to locate all these pieces, I've decided to wash my hands of the whole thing.
Of course if you're fortunate enough to liveoutside of California, this may be a moot point for you (you lucky dog). The only upside is that the heads came with the ports for the air injection system, so at least the heads won't need to be replaced. So there's that...
Overall -- if you can register it -- you get a truck that's in amazing cosmetic and mechanical condition for its age. Never been treated like a truck -- and it shows!
