1955 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-Door Hardtop 265 V8. factory 4 barrel. 3 speed manual on the column. dual exhaust. AM radio with factory speaker balance switch. Very solid well preserved original in good running condition. Excellent restoration candidate or enjoy as is!Bought from estate of previous owner who had it thirty years. I've gone through it and replaced the fuel tank. radiator. heater control valve. heater/vent control levers/knobs. clutch. remachined flywheel. rear brake shoes. machined turned drums. wheel cylinders. lines. emergency brake cables. carburator (correct Rochester 4Jet 4GC). three window regulators. both front door glasses. indow guides/rollers. glovebox liner. sent original radio out for rebuilding by Harold Rushing (master rebuilder) and reinstalled with new correct front speaker. NOS speaker balance switch. rear shelf. both front armrest covers and lower panel vinyl. kick panels. etc. The only item not functioning is the clock and a rebuilt/exchange is about $160. The only non-stock item is a Redi-Rad IPOD interface cable that works through the antenna cable of the radio so you can play any auxiliary device with a headphone jack through the stock radio. Floorboards/chassis solid and original. body supports intact and solid. a few rocker supports are rotted and can easily be fixed. the chrome is in fair to good condition with some light pitting and scratches. stainless is in very good condition throughout. Trunk is very original with jacking instruction sheet. original insulation. trunk mat. and solid floor. There are no leaks or drips. engine runs clean and strong. shifts well. rides even and quiet as it should. The engine is a 1956 265 and was in the car when the previous owner bought it so I don't know if it was replaced under warranty or by an earlier owner. The oil filter is the cannister type that screws into the bottom of the block and the engine number is 73720991/0159468T56F but it is the correct engine size for this VIN. Shocks and springs seem to have been replaced by previous owner and the suspension sits at correct height. The previous owner had sanded and primed the entire body and there is some minor bondo work in a few spots such as at the rear of the rocker panels. There is no evidence of any previous welding or panel replacement. dents. or other collision type work but the priming was not done well and will need to be sanded and blocked before painting if you choose to refinish it in the original India Ivory/Cashmere Blue (paint no 682). Includes: Shop manual. radio/EZ Eye manual. owner's manual. extra windshield. and fender skirts. This is a NO RESERVE auction! If you bid you can win!
