1965 Chevrolet Corvair Greenbrier Best in Show : Corvair International Convention Extremely rare "8 Door Deluxe" version From the Bill Jabs collection of award winning Corvairs comes this spectacular Greenbrier Deluxe 8 door. 1965 was the last year of Greenbrier production. a metalworker's strike delayed the introduction of Chevrolet's new Handyman/Sportsman van and Greenbriers were used as a stop gap measure. Just 1. 28 were made over a 2 month period. the optional 8 door versions were of course made in even more limited numbers and the Deluxe version of those were rarer still. This particular Greenbrier has been professionally restored and has traveled approximately 100 miles since restoration. It scored 98. 40 points at the CORSA International Convention in Ventura and was granted the Bill Mitchell Award for Best in Show. Fit and finish is show quality throughout. no shortcuts. no excuses. The Greenbrier door emblems are unique to '65. these are 2 month only emblems. Stunning presentation from every angle. Perfect lights. lenses and grill. Correct side mirrors. All new glass and seals. Hardware is all excellent. The rubber seals for the hinge assemblies are not reproduced. all 12 are NOS. Clean and crisp interior. all new. All new wiring means that every electrical component inside and out works correctly. The seatbelts were restored and re-webbed. This design is specific to only Corvairs and Corvettes from '63-'65. no other Chevrolet models. There are 8 sets in this van. all of them restored and all of them perfect. Underdash area looks brand new. Beautiful upholstery throughout. all of it in flawless condition. The middle seat is easily removable to face in the opposite direction. Strict attention to detail everywhere you look. Perfect headliner. rear compartment. etc. etc. The numbers matching drivetrain has been completely rebuilt. along with every other mechanical component on this vehicle. The motor was built with an eye towards performance. it runs strongly and provides a good amount of power. I like to let it warm up for 60 seconds when cold. otherwise it's perfect. less than 100 miles on it. The visual appearance of the undercarriage was restored in accordance with the factory assembly manual specifications. Better than production line standards? Yes.
