1968 Chevrolet C20 Custom Camper50th Anniversary Edition396 T400 ac ps pb
FITech fuel injected
Very cool old truck with lots of patina and old school touches added over the years.
Original 50th Anniversay truck with custom ordered black cloth interior (see SPID).Originally a 396, but now a fresh rebuilt 454 (stock with an RV cam) and just installedFITech fuel injection.Previous owner added the Chevelle steering wheel, air cleaner, and 396 emblems back in the 70's.Truck runs and drives great.
BODY -According to the previous owner, the truck was involved in a fender bender back in the mid 70's. The truck was painted at this time, and the camper mirrors removed and West Coast mirrors installed as well. The paint is patina'd from age, and very cool looking, but they did not repaint it the original anniversary gold, and you can see where they repainted around a camper in the bed.Overall, the sheetmetal is very, very straight, but you can tell where they filled the old mirror holes, and the seam sealer on the roof is kind of glommed on. Only surface rust in spots that I can see. The trim is pretty nice as well. There are a few nicks and scratches, but the truck presents VERY well for 40 year old paint and gets tons of compliments.
INTERIOR -The interior is very nice. The seat is near perfect. The dash is not cracked up. The interior paint is nice as well, with just a few scratches and misc small holes where accessories have been mounted over the years. All the glass is good.
ENGINE / TRANS -
The original 396 is long gone, but I just installed a stock, rebuilt 454 ( have receipts). A little over 300 miles on the engine. I just installed a FITech 400hp electronic fuel injection system. It runs great...idles at 750rpm and has fantastic throttle response. Also all new belts and hoses. New alternator and power steering pump. The a/c is not hooked up, but the Sanden compressor is there...just need to make hoses and charge system. While the engine was out, I installed a new American Autowire engine harness with the HEI ignition mod and alternator upgrade, as well as a new AA front light harness.*Everything on the engine is new...I patina'd everything to look old and keep the "original" look underhood. All the fuel injection wiring and components are hidden as well. All FITech manuals included in sale. The T400 transmission was rebuilt when the 454 was rebuilt. Shifts great. It uses a Lokar electronic kickdown switch and Lokar pedal.
The rest of the mechanicals are as when I bought the truck. Everything seems to work well...the truck drives straight and stops well.
All in all, this a pretty damn nice truck. It's not a "nut and bolt" resto show truck, but it's not $25,000 either. It does look and run great in my opinion, and gets all kinds of looks and compliments.
I have the clear California title and registration from the previous owner, and buyer will receive those as well as a Bill of Sale.
