I bought this 1951 Chevy pick up truck 5 window 1/2 ton shortbox a few years agoto replace a 5 window I sold as I really missed it.I am selling this truck out of my personal collection with sadness in my heart as I really do love i, and I really feel it is a special truck. I am doing a expansion project where I am expanding my showroom where I keep my classics and I am selling some of my collection to absorb some of the cost involved.Last year we pulled it in our shop and started with a frame off restoration. I bought the truck as the body was basically rust free and very solid (so it would be a great start to restore for my collection) I replaced the 216 engine with a strong 235 that has been completely gone through and a 4 speed transmission. I had a new master cylinder installed, four new wheel cylinders and brake lines. I replaced the radiator with a brand new aluminum radiator. I replaced the gas tank with a brand new gas tank and sending unit. I had new fuel lines installed. I put new shocks on the front. I had a complete tune up done to the engine including fuel pump, points, coil, etc. I had the oil changed and added new coolant. I installed a new 12 volt wire harness and installed a 12 volt alternator. The new wire harness is all hooked up and connected ready to go, so headlights, gauges, instrument lights etc all are working. I had a new exhaust and muffler installed. I had a new headlight and ignition switch installed. All of the glass is good (small minor crack on top edge of wind shield) I installed four good steel belted radial tires. I had the seat reupholstered along with new door panels. I had a new tailgate put on and had new wood installed in the box. The floors are solid. I had the truck painted in clear coat base coat, a two tone paint that looks awesome. I kept the original visor, front and rear bumper and hubcaps/trim rings. I wanted to keep some of the original patina. The heater is bypassed and I never hooked up the vacuum wipers but they are there. I totally have enjoyed driving this truck and have used it locally in town, parades, our local car shows and car club rallys. This truck over 45 mph does have some play but definitely drivable. To make this truck highway drivable on long trips, in my opinion would be to adjust the steering box or replace it. To drive it in town 45 mph or less you do not have to do anything. I set the reserve well below market value based on what trucks in this condition are doing at collector car auctions, only bid if you are serious about buying it! This truck comes with a clear title numbers matching to the vin tag in the door ready for you to register. The air cooler in the window and the plates and plate toppers do not go with the sale as they are part of my personal collection. As everyone has their own opinion on what a classic truck should be, I recommend coming yourself by appointment to check out the truck at my dealership teddys auto sales in waukon or hire ebay to do a independent inspection for you. I require a 500 dollar non refundable deposit within 24 hours of auction end, if I do not get the deposit within the time frame or before you come for the car, I will assume you are a dreamer or a scammer and not serious about buying it.I can help recommend shippers i have used in the past who have been very reasonable! If you have any questions at all, please call me at 563 568 5111 adam or email me.
