1957 Chevrolet “Shorty” Custom Show-Quality Build and Paint Custom Interior 350cid V-8 4 Bolt Main / Auto Trans Front Disc Brakes VIN: VB57L 202228 CALL TODAY 773-267-2684 WE SHIP WORLDWIDE! PPI's WELCOME OFFERS WELCOME! Evolve Motors and Chicago Car Club are pleased to present this 1957 Chevy Shorty! First off, what exactly is this thing? This “Shorty” is a product of two ‘57 Chevy 210s; it features a 210 sedan front end, with a 210 wagon rear. The result, one serious head-turner of a hot rod. Some of the Tri-Five purist may call it an abomination of a true classic, we call it COOL AS $#@%! This is a professionally built car and it shows great inside, out, and under. Exterior: The quality of the paint is the first thing you recognize when looking at the car, aside from its dimensions of course. Paint is two-stage metallic with a two-tone of ivory and yellow; purple, blue, and pink pinstriping presents extremely well under the protection of a full clear coat. Inner jambs, sills, firewall, and hinges are all painted to match and show in the highest quality. Panel fitment is excellent, which is great to see on a custom-built special such as this one. As the fitment is spot-on, pinstripes are even and the lines are seamless. The car’s short wheelbase and aggressive-looking 305/50/R15 rear tires give it the right stance to match the snarling exhaust note. Wheels are 15” steelies with chrome hubs and lips, with the faces painted ivory to match the car’s two-tone paint scheme. Chrome and trim presents in top condition all around, no bubbling or pitting, or fading. The car measures 13ft from tip to tail. The body shows no signs of the hundreds of hours it took to shorten this little hot rod. It is very obvious that this was a high end job. We note some very minor paint blemishes from road use but nothing you wouldn't expect from a 15 year old build. All in all we give this car a healthy A grade in terms of exterior, fit and finish, paint, structural integrity, trim, and overall style! Interior: The interior of this car is unique to say the least. It’s very detailed. Every metal piece throughout the interior has been painted white, then sponge-painted purple to match the exterior pin-striping and the pattern of the seats. The dash is retro, though it has a digital display. The car has a 1980s Corvette telescoping steering column and wheel. With the rear of a 210 wagon, the Shorty actually has quite a bit of room in the back. Windows are tinted and the car is equipped with a Pioneer sound system that is controlled by a vintage style head unit. The headliner, carpet, trim and glass all show in excellent condition. Under the Hood / Underbody: This Shorty is fitted with a 350cid Chevy small block V-8 with a 4 bolt main and a 350 Turbo transmission. Tires are Maxtour All Season 205/75/R15 up front (11/32” tread depth), and BF Goodrich Euro T/A 305/50/R15 out back (9/32” tread depth). The car has a Carter AFB carb, and a Mallory Unitlite distributor with mechanical advance. It also has an electric radiator fan to assist cooling on those hot summer night cruises. Some nice dress up parts throughout all add to the unique styling of this Shorty Wagon. The underbody looks quite good, with absolutely no corrosion on the inside of any panels or on the frame rails. All pans are solid and dry and still show signs of original undercoating. The shortening of the frame looks fantastic and the welds are straight and true. The car has some normal drips from the oil pan and transmission seal but nothing of concern to us. Running / Driving: The 350 V8 fires up nicely and sounds fantastic coming through the true dual exhaust. It idles nice and smooth and revs up perfectly. This car was build to drive so it feels like it is geared accordingly. Mash the pedal and hold on, this light little rod feels like she could pull the front tires on take off. It tracks and stops nice, straight, and smooth. Shifting is smooth and tight from gear to gear. It is an absolute blast to drive and is one of the coolest “head turners” we have owned. If the look of this thing doesn't get peoples attention as you cruise by, the Ah-Oo-Gah horn certainly will!
