Car description |
---|
1970 Chevelle SS 396/4spd (numbers matching) with 95K original miles. The car was repainted once years ago (48/48) Forest Green… the roof/hood/trunk are faded, but the sides still show well. The original code 796 Dark Green bucket/Console interior has not been touched (except for the radio), and I restored the original AM unit.
The Chevelle was found sitting in a warehouse where it was parked for nearly 30 years. The car starts right up… runs/drives, and stops but has not been on the road since the late 1980’s (so it leaks fluids from dried out gaskets). It is registered/insured to me, and the tags are current.
The car was born with a 396/M20 4spd but the motor spun a bearing, so it was removed. A rebuilt 454/TH400 was installed and still runs strong. The rear is the original 12 bolt posi 3.31 ratio. I have a short walk around with the car idling. I believe it’s an LS-5, but since the block was decked, I can’t read the numbers on the pad. I feel confident it’s a 512 casting. Either way the extra drivetrain is a real bonus for the next owner.
I had rebuilt the number matching 396 motor (completely stock factory build), and had it balanced/blueprinted, and bored .030 over. I also have the original number matching M20 transmission as well (I have the paperwork for the motor build). Everything on the motor is date coded correct (intake, carb, distributor). The only thing not original is the starter. This build was going to be factory original right down to the exhaust manifolds, Muncie shifter, and the points ignition.
The original M20 will be in a crate in the trunk, everything else will be in the car, and the motor will be on a rolling engine stand. If you cannot pick up the motor with the car, I can shrink wrap it on a pallet, and have it freight shipped anywhere via Fastenal (very affordable).
I bought everything needed for the mechanical restoration, (except the following : correct 4spd radiator, factory suspension kit, and the factory exhaust system)… I have literally thousands of dollars on new parts (with receipts), and everything goes with the car. Everything under the hood will be new including all the accessories, pulleys, fan blade, fan shroud, manifolds, starter, clutch, pedals, Muncie shifter, alternator, Carburetor, belts hoses, mounts, water pump, air cleaner, battery, all decals. Way too much to list…
The original accessories still work (except the clock) lights, gauges, wipers, even the ignition key buzzer. There is no rust anywhere on this car (see pics). Still has all of its original panels, bumpers, glass. The floors and trunk are excellent. The original 4spd hole is untouched. The wheels are original AO, and the center caps are the original screw on type. The car is a real time capsule.
The firewall trim plate reads 11B (early build). The motor is date coded (11/4/1969) and matches the VIN (T1104CTX) 10A110382. The brake booster is date coded 305 (which is 11/05/1969).
If you are not sure about something please ask! Do not assume anything… A $500.00 non-refundable Pay-Pal deposit is due within 24 hours of auction end (full payment due within 7 days). This vehicle is being sold as is where is with no warranty (expressed written or implied).
I will store the car safely for up to 30 days after payment is made, but must be picked up after that. Buyer is responsible for shipping. All shipping charges are buyer's responsibility (I recently paid $1250.00 to ship my Grand National coast to coast which was great). The title is clear, and in my name.
Thanks for looking!
