Car description |
---|
Up for auction is a 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle clone of Ricky Bobby's car from Talledaga Nights, which was itself a tribute to Smokey Yunick and his black & gold 66 Chevelle.
This 68 Chevelle is Gold and Black in color, and we do have the red stripe decals that can be installed but there were no plans to put door numbers on the car. The exterior is in very nice condition. There are some paint defects on the fenders and hood which you can see in the photos. The plan was to change the hood out with the SS hood after upgrading to a 396 engine in the car, and the 396 engine we have is available to the winner if this car finds a buyer through this auction. We also have a turbo 350 transmission for it if the buyer was interested as well. If not buyers this round the car will be relisted after the driveline upgrade for a higher price. You can also see in the photos the shine and reflection of the overall body, very nice!
This car as it is now starts right up and drives great! It has am amazing deep throaty growl through true dual flowmaster exhaust. The current driveline consists of the original 307 V8 and 2 speed powerglide. A very great looking, great driving classic!
Tires are brand new on prostar wheels. Most of the trim is all new or great condition original. This car has been stored indoors since it was built roughly 5 years ago and comes from a private collection. All of the glass is good and works perfect. This car has HID halo headlights. When built everything was replaced except the original driveline. The complete fuel system and brake system is new, tubular upper and lower front control arms, tubular rear control arms, all new soft parts and new stereo system, new exhaust.
The interior is all brand new and in great shape. The gauges and lights all work, but there is a triple gauge set added under the dash since the factory supplied only dummy-lights. The car has a massive aluminum radiator with dual electric fans and keeps its cool even in these intense Texas summers. Steering the car is made pleasurable with a walnut steering wheel from Grant.
The car runs and drives amazing. I have driven it alot for testing and pleasure and it is alot of fun and gets alot of attention. I have driven it on extended trips of 150 miles but I do not like to use the freeway because of the 2 speed transmission and our 85mph driving here. It is much more fun and comfortable on surface roads where you can maintain speeds of 70mph or less. As far as I can tell the miles are original.
It comes with an optima battery, electronic ignition, power steering and power brakes. Great look and feel. Also comes with collectible hot wheels car to match, a Ricky Bobby hat, remote for the stereo, Crystal Gale T-shirt and your very own Puma! Also comes with custom keychain so you dont forget which car the keys go to.
GOOD:
- Most of everything.
- Great looking, functional classic.
- Hope in and drive.
- Karen wont bite, unless you show fear.
- comes with a mounted battery tender to plug in while it is in storage to insure you never have a low batt
BAD:
1) There are a few paint defects in the front fenders and hood, see photos.
2) the driver side vent window has slop in the end of the gear so it can move alittle and you have to help it catch the gear to crank open (see photos)
Other than the above, the car drives well and gets alot of attention. Very fun car to take to the local meet or cruise around town. We have driven the car through town many times and never had any problems. Keep in mind it is 49 years old and not a new car, but it is in good condition considering its age. Very rust free body and chassis.
If you are looking to get into a classic car without spending a fortune this would be the opportunity for you. We do consider trades in the specialty or classic category.
