The first Chevrolet pickup truck appeared in 1924. thoughin-house designs did not appear until 1930. "C" indicated two-wheeldrive and "K" indicated four-wheel drive.  Several changesoccurred in 1971. First came another new grille design (the "eggcrate") for Chevrolet trucks and black paint over portions of the GMCgrille. An additional trim package was introduced: the Cheyenne. 1971 was thefirst year for AM/FM radios factory installed. The front brakes on alllight-duty trucks were switched from drum brakes to disc brakes. resulting inmuch less brake fade under heavy use. While many prior C/K half-ton trucks hadused a six-lug bolt pattern (6 x 5. 5") for the wheels. two-wheel-drivemodels switched to a five-lug pattern (5 x 5–inch bolt circle). The 1/2 ton 4 x4 retained the 6 lug bolt pattern.
