DescriptionVery sharp Big Block Camaro. Black on Black. You are looking at a 1968 Camaro RS/SS 396. nbsp;and we are told that the only way to know if this is a factory RS/SS is with documentation. like a copy of the window sticker or dealership bill of sale. We dont have a copy and since the 396 big is long gone its no longer a matching numbers car. the only memory is the air cleaner sticker. it now has a GM performance 425hp 454 that will run on premium pump gas. It has a multi leaf 12 bolt rear end with 3:73 posi which gives it amazing acceleration out of the hole but not much good for highway cruising. plus the era correct rally wheels with the exception of the BFG radials VS the factory red line bias ply tires and the rear wheels are 8" wide like the corvette and 7" in the fron like the Camaro. The SS emblems look old and the white paint is flaking as well as the 396 emblems. it has the back up lights on the rear lower cowl instead of the rear tail lights. It also has the deluxe door panels and the deluxe bucket seats. It has a three speed automatic transmission; it would be excellent with an overdrive. This was a factory A/C car it is missing the compressor and the condenser. it still has the firewall and dash controls. It has power disc brakes in the front with new rotors. calipers and master cylinder. The previous owner removed the vacuum operated headlight closers and installed electric ones; they however are not working with the headlight switch. It has a large 4 core aluminum radiator with a shroud and electric cooling fan. It has three gauges above the console. oil press. temp and volts. The temperature gets up to 220 on the gauge. the laser temp shows 195 at the thermostat housing. the gauge may need to be calibrated. It needs an over flow bottle on the radiator; it has the hose going to the ground. The deluxe interior has the hounds tooth cloth and vinyl. The dash is excellent no cracks. the sail panel has a small tear on the right rear. The carpet is in good condition. The paint is excellent with only three flaws that I can find. very slick. no orange peel. This is a strong upper driver/show quality paint. two small rock chips. a flaw at each corner of the rear window and a small dent on the rear deck lid. very hard to see. The exhaust system starts with long tube headers and goes through a set of flowmaster mufflers. the exhaust looks about new and sounds excellent. In the glove box is the factory owners manual and a complete title search showing the previous owners of this Texas car. This car turns heads and runs very strong. You can easily make it an A/C car because it came with factory air. This is a solid no rust Texas car. It was traded to a very famous motorcycle builder Jerry Covington in Woodward Oklahoma. he had it in his collection for a short while. We acquired it along with several motorcycle trades including a 1962 Pan head. Check out the pictures and watch the video. call with any questions you may have.
