Car description |
---|
Exterior: Very good driver/weekend show condition, presents well. Casual observers at the gas station will find no faults and will flock to it - prepare to be deluged. Concours car show nitpickers might notice dings in the original moldings, a few small cracks in original grille, and patina in the original top (not repainted). No rust issues. Here in the arid west, sand, not salt is used on the roads and we get a total of 10 inches of annual precip. Truck had only minor rust in the few lower body spots that mud builds up in and holds moisture. I had it repainted at a pro shop and at that time the passenger outer rocker was replaced along with small panels in front of and behind rear wheels. Fixed right with metal as shown in underside pics. Cab and body mounts look great. No issues with window frame or other usual spots. Out here we just don't get frame rot, underside corrosion, or pitting on moldings, any of the general nastiness of the midwest or east coast. Truck was stored inside most of it's life and it shows. Original top has the typical sag that's only visible if you're on a ladder or ten feet tall. Top was not removed when repainted, and could use weatherstrips. I replaced both bumpers with new high quality chrome bumpers.
Interior: All original. Presents well, good survivor condition, no major issues. As far as I know, everything works right down to the shift selector light. Driver seat had a repair before I got it, and original carpet is frayed at sill edge (see photobucket pics). Original steering wheel has the typical few cracks. Rear side panels were removed when new to make room for gun racks, but original owner's family could not locate them. Thankfully high quality reproductions are available now. Some minor sun damage to original rear seat upholstery. Aftermarket radio installed but original radio block-off plate is included.
Mechanical: 72k miles shown is indicated as actual on paperwork, and I have every reason to believe it is. Starts, runs, drives, and stops fine. As far as I know everything works. Tight as one of these old rattletraps can be. Original engine sounds great with good oil pressure. Runs very smooth with original Quadrajet carb. Will puff from valve seals a bit at startup. Nice Flowmaster exhaust. Typical old 4x4 minor leaks but nothing serious - a few small drips. Drives like the 72k mile original it is. I have put a couple of thousand miles on over the last 5 years, and have done nothing but normal maintenance- hoses, belts, etc. Does get "buzzy" at highway speeds, not really vibration but more like tire and gear noise/whine. My Dad bought a new 72 Blazer, and his was about the same. These just don't compare to new rigs in the noise/vibration/harshness category, so adjust your expectations accordingly. I added later rally wheels and larger 31" tires. The original wheels and hubcaps will be included, I will box them up and put them in the truck prior to shipping.
Pricing/Misc: If you've been searching for a 67-72 Blazer, you know that prices are nutty. I looked for comps, and there are few survivors out there.
Seems like anything nice is $25k, with several restored trucks selling at auctions for $40k-$80k. There is NO RESERVE, the truck will sell.
