Car description

The El Camino has been everyone's favorite do-anything vehicle, and this 1978 Chevrolet El Camino offers a great color combination, V8 power with a 4-speed, and a very attractive price. Get into something a little different and see how useful the El Camino can be.We're guessing the repaint is probably a bit older and the cowl-induction hood is a nice touch of aggressiveness, but the Elky is surprisingly well preserved for being nearly 30 years old. Sure, there are some nicks and scratches and a few signs of age, but you know how hard it is to keep black looking perfect. Still, there's no diminishing the clean, chiseled lines of the truck/car and with black paint, you know that there are no nasty surprises hiding underneath. The cowl induction hood gives it an aggressive look and the custom grille fits so well you'd think it was built that way and it leaves no question as to the identity of this machine. The chrome is a nice contrast to all that black paint, and the bumpers are in good shape, the stainless shines up well, and chrome hood pins add to the aggressive look. The bed is protected with a spray-in liner so it's ready, willing, and able to get to work on weekends, making this the most practical hobby car you can buy.Bright red buckets are a fantastic contrast to the black paint, so you have a great foundation to build on. The interior does need some TLC, but the basics are good because it's a bucket seat car with a 4-speed, so everything else is just cosmetics. The dash, door panels, and carpets could probably be replaced, but the seat covers are newer and are in good shape. There's a tilt column with a Grant GT steering wheel and someone has mounted a tach on the dash. Other upgrades include a Hurst shifter for the 4-speed, an AM/FM/CD stereo. Spend some time and effort on the interior and you could really have an awesome car.The engine is a smooth-running 305 cubic inch Chevy V8, which, obviously remains the cornerstone of performance. Obviously some time and money has been spent here, as the engine is dressed up with Edelbrock chrome pieces and stainless steel braided hose covers. It starts easily and runs great, moving the Elky with smooth torque that's useful as well as a lot of fun. You can see that most of the original A/C components are still in place, so you could probably get the system up and running with a little effort, making this truck that much more desirable. Add in the 4-speed manual transmission and you have a real fun El Camino that will always be reliable and ready to rock. Long-tube headers and a recent dual exhaust system with turn-downs just ahead of the rear axle give it a fantastic sound and you can see just how clean it is with a glance underneath. Newer shocks, power steering and brakes, and a set of Rally wheels are all welcome assets. Staggered 205/70/15 front and 225/70/15 rear performance radials give it a great stance and have lots of life left in them. With a little time and effort, this could really be impressive. Move fast, because good base stock like this doesn't come around very often and it's a car you can enjoy while you upgrade it. Call today!
