The 1962 Chevrolet Corvette roadster is a true favorite among fans because it has the best of everything. The final year for the C1 is when the V8 power and first generation styling really came together in one of the coolest packages around. And to top it off, it has its original high-compression 340 hp 327ci under the hood. For a lot of guys, the 1962 Corvette is the one to own. Four headlights up front, and the ducktail rear that ushered in the era of the four round brake lights. It loses the awkward styling touches like the ribbed hood and fussy chrome details of previous years, but it keeps desirable features like the full trunk. Up front, the grille is the simplest and sleekest of all the C1s, but it remains an icon with its wraparound chrome appearance. While a red Corvette is beautiful, we do see plenty of them. Instead, this one has been resprayed with a 1962-correct Sateen Silver. It's a distinctive way to show off the uniform fit of the body without losing the period-correct feel. Of course the thing that you will really be attracted to is that all the hard to find brightwork that's in place on this one, and it still sparkles with a fantastic shine. A white top, fresh whitewall tires, and full chrome wheel covers are the perfect cap off to the period-correct feeling of this final year, first-generation 'Vette. If you thought the outside color was striking, just wait until you open the door. Red interiors always look amazing on silver cars, and this one seems to pop even more, thanks to an investment into a proper restoration to keep the seats, doors, carpeting, and dash in a cherry hue. Plus, the AM radio is still cranking out tunes. The dual cowl dash is the focal point of the interior, so it's always great to see it looking this nice. While the big speedometer is always nice, we love seeing a functioning tachometer on a manual transmission car like this one. The steering wheel looks awesome in red as well, and its ridges have that great thin, grippy feel that only came on the right cars of this era. Because you'll want to be cruising with the top down for as long as possible, it's always nice to know the heater is in good working order so you can still enjoy this roadster on a crisp fall Sunday drive. This numbers-matching Corvette still carries its strong 327 cubic inch V8 that fires up with ease and produces a great exhaust note out of the twin pipes. This high-compression motor retains its original Carter aluminum four-barrel carburetor and four-speed manual transmission to be a real-deal 340 horsepower factory machine. Corvette fans know this RPO 396 package is rare with less than 4,500 produced. And as a truly special machine, you can tell from the condition of the V8 and the undercarriage that there was real money invested in keeping this desirable C1 in top condition. So do you show off this '62 or drive it? We suggest both, but you have to be the first one to claim this award-worthy 'Vette if you want it in your garage. Call today!!!
