Chevrolet obviously did a lot right in 1969. Almost everything the company produced that year has achieved a wide following that carries timeless appeal across several generations. Among those offerings, the '69 Camaro claims one of the largest enthusiast groups. That's why cars like this investment grade coupe, an authentic L89-powered rarity, never stick around our showroom for very long. The beneficiary of a detailed, ground-up restoration, this fully documented F-Body features an original big block, a tough Muncie 4-speed, and correct Black and Hugger Orange aesthetics. That means, if you're looking for top-of-the-line performance that's wrapped in legendary paint and premium trimmings, this super sweet Super Sport literally represents the best of everything!
BODYWORK/TRIM
Fully sorted and ready for years of endless parading, this vivid panther benefitted from a full restoration that, despite its fresh appearance, was conducted roughly 20 years ago. That fresh appearance can no doubt be attributed to the fact that the car was acquired by a prominent Camaro collector circa 2001. Naturally, its correct Hugger Orange paint reflects excellence under striking black stripes and a correct Black top. And today, this top notch Chevy rolls as a captivating homage to everything that was great about '60s automotive excess!
With balanced proportions and modernist detailing, the first generation Camaro is an inherently good-looking design. At the front of this F1, a familiar Rally Sport grille hangs a bold "SS" emblem between hidden headlights, a guarded bumper, clear parking lamps and a stylish D80 chin spoiler. At the top of that grille, a ZL2 cowl induction hood bridges the gap between a familiar "Camaro BY CHEVROLET" header and like-new glass that's traced in straight stainless trim. At the back of that hood, correct mirrors and traditional door handles reflect ornate "Camaro" scripts and more "SS" emblems. Opposite those mirrors, standard rocker guards split the difference between slim wheel frames, optional quarter louvers and Satin Black sills. And at the back of the car, a Satin Black valance centers a fourth "SS" emblem between chrome-trimmed taillights, a second guarded bumper and requisite Rally Sport reverse lamps.
ENGINE
Toss the hood and you'll find an original, 375 horsepower big block that wears a '69-exclusive 3955272 casting number behind a correct "JJ" assembly stamp and matching partial VIN. Unless you lived near one of the major Chevrolet performance dealers, or knew the correct path through the options list, getting a top-option L89 Camaro was a pretty formidable challenge that, according to most sources, severely limited production. Oxygen and fuel enter the exclusive mill's combustion chambers through a painted and decaled air cleaner, stainless fluid lines and a correct 4346 Holley. Below that carb, a sea of brilliant Chevy Orange paint covers the block from its correct Winters intake all the way to its stamped steel oil pan. At the back of that intake, a reliable points distributor shoots spark through eight AC-Delco-Packard TV-R-Suppression cables. Below those cables, correct Winters aluminum heads center chrome valve covers on professionally restored exhaust manifolds. In front of those tubes, fresh V-belts spin a rebuilt Delco alternator opposite correct power steering. At the front of that pump, a Delco-topped battery complements a correctly shrouded radiator that's cinched to pliable GM hoses and tight tower clamps. Those components are, in traditional fashion, seated in a slick, Satin Black frame. And the whole setup presents exceptionally well, from its old school washer tank and correct Delco Moraine brake booster to its insulated hood and correct emissions hardware.
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
Under this impressive F-Body you'll find a fully sorted chassis that, like the car's glossy exterior panels and lust worthy engine, has been restored to very high standards. At the center of the car's floors, a correct tough 4-speed twists torque through a "BV" stamped 12-bolt. That stellar drivetrain hangs in a factory-spec suspension, which features correct power steering and correct power front disc and rear drum brakes. Exhaust flows through chambered pipes to correct, bare stainless tips. Power meets the pavement through attractive Rally Wheels, which twist F70-14 Firestone Wide Oval Super Sports around stainless trim rings and turbine center caps. And, naturally, all the car's weathered bits were replaced during its extensive rebuild.
INTERIOR
Grab this Chevy's doors and you'll find a Deluxe Interior that wraps requisite bucket seats in a sea of vintage flash. In front of those seats, a wood-trimmed dash hangs fully rebuilt telemetry next to an optional AM/FM radio. Below that dash, a wood-trimmed console founds factory 4-pack accessory gauges in front of a familiar Hurst shifter. Opposite that console, Deluxe side panels trace chrome handles in straight stainless trim. Those components are framed in tight carpet, tough floor mats and a fade-free headliner. The driver plots a course through a bright Chevy Rally Wheel. And the passengers stash essentials in a fully restored trunk that features a correct jack and full-size spare tire.
