Knock-off wheels wrapped in radial tires and factory style side pipes really round out the look and feel! Upgraded suspension, and all restoration and service records dating back to 1987 are included! Sweet buy considering the expense to build one like it!

Corvette will forever be America’s oldest official sports car with a bold tradition of building a 2-seat, performance oriented vehicle for the past 63 years! Through the good years, and arguably bad ones, there is a Corvette to catch the attention of almost any enthusiast. It is without any question the C2 Generation is among the most desired for classic car collectors the world over. These consist of the years 1963 to 1967. With their beautifully sculpted body lines and improvements with independent suspensions, 4-wheel disc brakes, and various engine options, it’s easy to see why they consistently find values increasing year after year!

We are proud to offer this 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Convertible finished in factory code correct 986- Silver Pearl over upgraded Black Leather interior with matching Black convertible top. Under the hood of this example lies a R.H.S. Magnum Special 383ci stroker V8 producing 450 horsepower mated to a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission with 3.70:1 Posi-Traction rear axle. Starting with a 1970’s 350ci 4-bolt main block, it was fitted with forged 5140 crank, forged pistons, new main bearings, billet connecting rods, new rod bearings, Comp Cams roller cam with 819S lifters, fresh cam bearings, 10:1 compression DART 72cc super modified heads with a 3-angle valve job, polished stainless steel valves, Stellite valve seats, all new gaskets, seals, water pump, Holley fuel pump, Contender aluminum intake, Holley 650cfm double pumper carburetor, MSD twin coil ignition system, Hedman ceramic-coated long tube headers feeding out to side exit exhaust! The entire engine is internally balanced, and with proper routine maintenance is good for 100,000 miles or more according to professional builder RHS Performance Engines (Racing Head Service) based out of Memphis, TN. To help ensure this longevity, the engine is also fitted with a 7-quart oil system with inline filtration, auxiliary oil cooler, K&N air filter, and finned aluminum valve covers.

History of this example dates back to 1987 when the previous owner, a Chevrolet mechanic, began the restoration. It was completed by 1992 and included a full chassis and suspension rebuild, body work & new paint, new weather stripping, new leather interior in place of the factory vinyl, new engine installation, rebuilt transmission with new clutch and added Lakewood scatter shield, added Simpson 3” racing seat belts, new convertible top and more! The car was then used regularly year after year adding some 20,000 miles to the odometer during the next 22 years. He finally sold the car to a local St. Louis, MO enthusiast in 2014. It continued to be a fair weather, garage kept driver, with the new owner contributing another 2,000 miles or so along with his own meticulous maintenance efforts. Since 2014, this Corvette received a new battery, new starter, new tires, a proper factory style side exhaust system, new master brake cylinder, fresh spark plugs, regular oil changes, added passenger side mirror, hood release cable, dual fiberglass mono-leaf springs, Bilstein shocks, rear strut rods, and new u-joints. The compression of the engine was checked when new plugs were installed at 68,446 miles. #1-215, #2-215, #3-220, #4-220, #5-220, #6-205, #7-218, #8-215. All consistent and remarkably close to the compression readings taken when the engine was first completed.

Additional features include original AM/FM radio, working electric clock, Kelsey-Hayes style aluminum knock-off wheels (Western replicas), radial tires, teakwood steering wheel, and on board fire extinguisher required by most car shows. All records dating back to 1987 are included and nicely organized into 3 binders, two notebooks of handwritten service logs, and a forth binder containing a complete assembly manual. It is a perfect Corvette for the enthusiasts looking for performance and drivability without the anxiety about being number’s matching. Just relax, fill the gas tank, and drive.
