MotoeXotica Classic Cars presents a traditional straightforward restomod in this 1955 Chevrolet 210 Sedan. Its owner has driven this car since 1984. The powertrain was recently rebuilt with just 2,500 miles on it.

Finished in a look-at-me yellow with a black interior, under the hood is a rebuilt Chevrolet 350 CID V-8 engine with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor and new heads mated to a rebuilt Turbo Hydramatic 350 three-speed automatic transmission with dual exhausts. To shift out of Park, raise and pull back on the shifter slightly. The engine has about 2,500 miles on it since the rebuild. At the rear is a nine-inch Ford differential with 3.50 gearing. Engine has electronic ignition and electric fuel pump. New parts include the gas tank, chrome alternator and battery. Driver assist features include power steering and power four-wheel disc brakes.

The bright paint is in very good condition, with just a few blemishes when you stand close to the car. The glass panels are in similar good condition, crack-free and clear. The car’s lights are in good shape and the rear lights show some slight patina. Car has Prime racing wheels with a tri-swirl pattern and those wheels are surrounded by BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires, size 215/65R15 front and 245/60R15 rear. Car features GM exterior door handles from the 60s and 70s. All of the body panels are straight and the bumpers are in good order. There is some slight pitting on the right side of the front bumper, however.

Inside, the black cloth bucket front seats are in good shape, as are the matching carpet and new headliner but there are no sun visors. The door skins, package shelf and aftermarket gray center console are in good shape. The black metal dash is in great shape and comes with a Grant three-spoke steering wheel. The speedometer and odometer are inoperable but the transmission has a B&M Quicksilver ratchet shift lever, there is a 10,000-rpm Auto Gage tachometer resting on the steering column and three Auto Gage ancillaries, oil, voltage and temperature, mounted under the dash. Also under the dash is a kill switch for the electric fuel pump, just to the right of the steering wheel. A RetroSound AM/FM stereo with cassette complete the interior.

The 1955 Chevrolet also offered many other firsts for Chevrolet, including changing from a six-volt to a 12-volt electrical system. The ’55 offered new options like air conditioning, power windows, and even power seats; power steering and power brakes were also optional. Other options included automatic light dimmers, door handle protectors, bumper protectors and “wonder-bar” radios. So many new options were available that some referred to the car as “Chevy’s little Cadillac.” Never before had so many options been offered for a car in the low-price field.

The 1955 Chevrolet (sometimes referred to as ’55 Chevy) is an automobile that was made by Chevrolet in 1955. It is considered a huge turning point for the manufacturer and a major success. It was available in three models: the 150, 210, and Bel Air.

The ’55 Chevy was the first successful Chevrolet with an optional V8 engine. Chevrolet had produced an earlier car with a V8 in 1918 (Chevrolet Series D), which used a 155-horsepower and 288-cubic-inch V8, but it remained in production for only a year. In 1955, Chevrolet decided to fit its new car with an overhead valve V8 engine design, which was similar to the 1949 Oldsmobile “Rocket 88” V8 engine. The new 265-cubic-inch overhead valve V8 was designed to be smaller, lighter, and more powerful than previous V8s in the auto industry.

The new small block V8 had an easy maintenance and it had a built-in ability to be upgraded. The small block Chevy V8 became so popular that Chevrolet still sells it today. Although there have been various changes made to the motor to modernize it, the basic design of the original 265 remains.

This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 60,797 miles but the owner reports the engine, transmission and final drive only have about 2,500 miles on them. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title.
