1962 Chevrolet CorvairMonza 900
I have personally owned this 1962 Corvair for a few years now. I bought it as a project and have completed all the work required to bring it to the state where it sits at now. Although my car is not perfect nor finished, it runs and drives well. For being over 50 years old this car can easily cruise around town and reach highway speeds comfortably.
The following has been done within the 1000 (One thousand) miles:
Unfortunately it still has that infamous "Corvair Leak" even after I changed all the gaskets and seals. Apparently I missed one small seal that's located on the transmission by where the shifter linkage resides. This seal should have been changed when the transmission pan was removed; but since I had just cleaned the pan and installed a new gasket I figured I deal with the leak than to remove the transmission pan again.
As you can see by the above list, I have been focused on making the Corvair road-worthy before beginning to work on the cosmetics.
The car doesn't seem to have been in any accidents other than a few dents found around the car: A small dent in the front bumper, small scrape by the drivers side front fender and another small dent on the rear trunk lid. I do not know if these dents were caused at the same time, but would assume they did not based on their locations.
In order to prevent further sun damage and oxidation the car was given a coat of flat white primer. Since all windows & doors open and close freely, all that is left to do is reupholster the interior and paint the car!

- New Oil Pan Gasket
- New Valve Cover Gaskets
- New Transmission Gaskets
- Repacked Wheel Bearings
- Resurfaced Brake Drums
- New Distributor Cap
- New Condeseor
- New Point Leads, Points & Rotor
- New Spark Plugs
- New Spak Plug Cables
- Rebuilt BOTH Carburetors
- Took apart engine bay;
- Cleaned all engine covers/shields and repainted
- Cleaned and Lubricated Fan Pulley
- Cleaned all heat extractor fins
- Cleaned Oil Cooler
- Cleaned and repainted exhaust vents
- Custom made new "Ground" cable kit
- Cleaned and Painted engine bay
- New Brake Master Cylinder (although oxidation started to take over the exterior surface)
- New Viton Pushrod O-Rings
- New Air Vent Ducts (Recirculate Air Into Cabin)
- I'm sure I'm forgetting at least a few more items that have been recently updated.
