Up for auction is our 1960 Brookwood 2-door wagon with a 348 Big Block. This car was originally Crocus Cream with a Cascade Green interior! Those are cool colors on a ‘60 Wagon. These 2-door ‘60 Wagons are very rare and this one has lots to offer. This car spent almost all of its life in Southern California and was built in the Los Angeles, Ca plant. It later was relocated to Colorado in the early 1990’s and has been here since. Being in these dry climates has really helped preserve the body on this car from rust. It is not 100% rust free, as the floors have had some patch work, but are now good. The left rear quarter panel around the left rear tire has some rust and the rear tail gate has just a few small holes at the bottom ( I have a nice solid replacement, I would be willing to sell). The rest of the body is exceptionally nice. The front fenders, inner and outer rocker panels, door bottoms, all body mounts, rear floor under the seat, the cargo area and the spare tire well are all VERY SOLID AND RUST FREE! The body is also very straight except the right quarter by the door where it was creased and straightened about 6” long. The original door was creased and has been changed with a nice straight and rust free replacement. The splash pans are nice but rear is missing one. Otherwise, I feel this car has a great body and can easily be massaged by a professional body man with ease. The glass is very impressive. The windshield and rear quarter curved windows are very nice. The rest of the flat glass is very nice too, there is one broken out panel on the passenger side, right rear flat panel (easily replaced). All of the stainless trim is there and very nice. The bumpers are straight and in good condition. The anodized aluminum grill, headlight trim, tail light bezels and outer grill trim is all there and in nice shape. None of these pieces are reproduced for a ’60, so it’s critical that this car is so complete. The interior is complete with all gauges, inner trim, radio, window crankes, steering wheel/horn button, switches and dash emblems, seats / folding rear seat and rear folding floor panel are all complete and in great restorable condition. The carpet has been removed to see that the floor is very solid. The only rust concern is where the gas pedal mounts, it needs a 4” square metal repair, very minor…. Under the hood is a 348 that is mostly complete and looks very original. If I were going to build this car as a driver, I would rebuild the engine. I was told it ran a long time ago and it does turn freely. The starter and exhaust manifolds are missing, otherwise its complete and looks nice. The transmission was originally an automatic and is missing. The good news is that Powerglides are easy to find and the drive shaft and transmission cross member are included with the car. The brakes work a little but are weak, good enough for loading and unloading. The steering works great and needs nothing. All four wheels have decent tires and stay inflated. Gas tank is in good condition and has new fuel lines. All of the suspension is in nice shape and is very street worthy, with newer shocks and bushings that all look good. I would say this car could be on the road without a lot work. It’s a great candidate for a full restoration or a slammed hot rod. Either way, it’s a very rare wagon that will turn heads everywhere it goes. I have a current Colorado title in hand that is ready for transfer of ownership.
