Car description |

You are bidding on an extremely rare, riginal late 50's/early 60's-era Chevrolet Corvette amusement park ride. This was a kids ride, sed on a enclosed track at an amusement park, nd itis the only one known leftto exist today. It is 99% complete, nd it still retains the original Continental engine, earing its original paint, nd it spins freely. It steers, t has an accelerator, nd the "shifter" is actually a "brake" that pulls back on a belt that slows the ride down. This is a very well constructed piece, nd not some cheaply made item. Both rear wheels are chain driven. The front wheel hubs have zerk fittings to allow them to be greased/serviced. The tires are mismatched, o it's clear that this little car got some serious use at the amusement park over the years it was in service! Other than the tag on the engine, here are no other markings on it to indicate who was the original manufacturer of it. The serial number on the engine starts with "54" so there's a possibility that this could have been constructed in '53/'54. Exact age is not known, ut my guess is that it was built well before 1960. The condition is suprisingly good given the age, nd the fact that it likely saw thousands and thousands of laps around the track it was confined to. The fiberglass body is not broken, he frame is not damaged, nd other than a part of the hood/side trim and the windshield, t is astonishingly complete! Lastly the headlights originally functioned/lit upas they are wired for power.
This has been in my private collection for the past 20+ years and never offered for sale prior to now. My intention was to restore it one day, ut I have not got around to it, o I am putting it up for sale. Cars & Parts magazine did some research and a story on this car many years ago, nd they were unable to find or document another one, hus giving the belief that it's the only one known to exist. Properly restored, ost Corvette collectors believe the value of this car could exceed $20,000, ossibly even more. The value could be only limited by the sale of other identical cars, nd there are no other identical cars left!
Low ball offerswill beimmediately rejected. Ido not need to sell this car, nd I have several standing offers north of $5000 so please keep that in mind. The item is for sale locally and may be sold at any time.
