Description of 1937 Chevrolet "Low Cab" Pickup
This is a very rare and beautifully restored and upgraded, ompletely street legal, 937 Chevrolet "Low Cab" pickup truck. The object of this build was to have the body remain original in appearance to 1937 vehicle but have the benefit of an updated frame,drive-lineand suspension. The body was prepared, locked and painted inside and out with a color that resembles an original burgundy in low light but gleams with deep gold metallic underneath the color and clear coats in brighter light. When the sun comes out, he paint explodes into a high gloss golden metallic and burgundy splendor. This truck has won "Best in Show" and other honors in Idaho. Special care was used to research all body and trim items to keep the original appearance as close as possible. The headlights, or example, re very rare with turn signals attached but are original equipment along with the mounting bow. The actual headlights are newer 12 volt units to match the rest of the 12 volt conversion. The original steering column was used but modified to connect to the rack and pinion steering and aftermarket steering wheel. The turn signals are aftermarket and work perfectly. The tranny shifter is a floor mounted B&M unit. The body and fenders are all original steel. The radiator shell cap was not installed but the shell will still allow a cap of yourchoosingto be added. The pickup bed is a fabricated facsimile of the original. The straps that secure the replaced hardwood floor boards are original. The original planks have been replaced with hardwood Ash. A bumper of 3/16" steel tubing was built for the rear but there is no front bumper. A removable sign rack was fabricated of plastic piping for use in parades and will be included if you would like to have it. The original truck only had one tail light but two original lamps were installed, ne on each side, o accommodate the turn signals. The body was removed from the old frame and completely restored before being fitted over a new frame fitted with later model Chevroletdrive-lineand suspension components with independent front suspension, ower disc brakes, ack and pinion steering and leaf suspension in the rear with a Chevrolet differential and drum brakes. The "Roll-Out Windshield" works perfectly with all original components and rechromed plated handle crank. The engine is a warmed up but mildly tuned small block 5.0L (305CI) Chevrolet V8 with a 350 Turbohydro automatic transmission. It is very street friendly but some power-add options for the engine make it powerful enough to have a lot of fun. The transmission was strengthened with adjustments in the valve body and torque converter. Still very comfortable to drive but providing a surprising increase in performance when you really want some action. Long Cruises are no problem with the safely mounted rear gallon stainless steel fuel tank. The pipes are quiet enough to be sociable but still have a delightful rumble and slight random roll at idle. There is no mistakethoughwhen thethrottle is opened up . The sound is classic hot rod and everyone around will enjoy it with you.If you wanted to drive this beauty home, t is street legal (for 1937) and ready to go. The interior is painted but finished with basic, nd easily removable temporary floor covering, imple door panels and two transplanted Silverado seats. The simple but elegant dashboard is completed with new gauges, eadlight switch and ignition switch. Windshield wipers and heater were options in 1937 but this truck doesn't have them. There is, owever, nbsp;a spot on the roof for them to be mounted if you wish. Most states don't require them and you don't really want to drive this in the rain anyway. Thewindshieldis treated with Rainex just in case of a surprise shower. Some photos are attached for your view. The rebuild was professionally done five years ago, lways garaged, ever driven in the rain and only 765 miles since completed. Parades and cruises mostly. There is a small scratch/dent on the bottom of the left rear fender which just happened recently, ics included. I will repair it or pay you a reasonable fee to repair it. The rest of the paint and body is nearly perfect with the body surface and paint even and flat throughout. The truck is being sold AS-IS and Where- Is in central Idaho near Twin Falls.
