1972 Chevy Impala, ust under 125,000 original miles.
It's an original triple black car, 00ci V8, barrel carb, urbo 350 trans.
I bought this car from the family of the original owner in 2002.
This is originally a California car, hich I enjoyed as my hobby car while I was living in Southern California. When I bought the car, thought it'd be a great car to restore but I never ended up doing much to it...the car always seemed to work and I didn't use it that much, o there was no real motivation to take it completely apart.
I did have the car repainted, umpers rechromed, nd all of the script emblems shaved along with the clunky moldings that had originally come on the car. New carpet and vinyl top when the car was painted as well, oth still are decent. The 15x7 rally wheels are aftermarket and the derby caps were missing when the car arrived from shipping. The tires have very low miles BF Goodrich radials but are just old from sitting. The drivetrain is original and hasn't been altered except for a simple dual exhaust system that was already installed on the car when I bought it. Having extra space and good weather in Southern California made it easy to keep an older car covered outdoors in relatively good condition.
When I relocated to NY, had the car shipped (2010) thinking it'd be a fun car on the weekend, ut after arriving in NY the car has been sitting and hasn't moved from the driveway.
I really have no time or proper storage space for this vehicle, he weather here isn't as kind to older vehicles like in California. I don't want the car to fall into an un restorable condition, feel this car has a lot of potential. The car is very straight, lmost all original and relatively rust free besides what 5 years in the yard has done, t's a very buildable car.
Currently, he car still has a California title and is registered as PNO (planned non operational) status and the vehicle has a clear title. If you're not familiar with the PNO process, t basically allows you to store your vehicle without accruing any registration penalties etc.
I have recently started the car and it seems to run fine. I put fresh gas in the tank, leaned the points and checked all of the fluids, t moves forwards and backwards and stops.
That said, his car has been sitting for 5 years. All of the systems on the car will need to be thoroughly checked before I would consider it roadworthy. This car has all of what you would expect from a 70's vehicle with it's original drivetrain. It smokes a bit on startup, as a minor exhaust leak at the exhaust manifold, ired suspension, tc. The AC worked when I got the car but didn't when I shipped the car 5 years ago. All of the exterior running lights work, owever, he fuse is out for the interior lights because that fuse is also responsible for the ignition key buzzer, hich always buzzed when you opened the driver's door. It has a newer than stock radiator and the battery is brand new.
The new owner of this vehicle will need to bring a trailer for transport, he Impala will be able to be driven out of the driveway where it's currently parked and directly on to a trailer. I mention this point because when I had the car shipped from California, he covered transporter truck I hired was so big that the driver couldn't deliver it to my exact address. The streets are too narrow here. He had to drop the car a few miles away where he could unload it. At the time this was annoying, ut not a major problem because the car was registered and insured. Now that the car isn't registered or insured, t can't be driven on the street, t will need to get loaded on to a transporter that can fit on my street, standard single car trailer or tow truck. Please note, he vehicle will not be released to anyone who plans to drive it home. Please do not bid if this is your plan, he car should be trailered to it's new home.
Please check out the pictures and message me if you have any questions...I tried to be as thorough as possible documenting what is here. There are no dents in the car, ust paint nicks. I have several pictures showing where there's some rust beginning to form. The chrome on the rear bumper is starting to flake off in places. The driver's side fender and rear quarter are showing the beginning signs of rust bubbles forming. Currently the overall condition of the paint is fair, etween the weather and the car cover, oth pretty much killed the paint job. I'm doubtful it can be buffed out. The paint has wrinkled a bit on the trunk lid.
The interior is original except for the carpet, ll in very good shape. The glove box door is missing some paint and the headliner has started to fall down in the back on the driver's side. There's one tear on the driver's seat about 4-5 inches long. There's one white sunvisor installed on the driver's side, he original black one is included with the car but the mechanism needs work, t swings down.
There's a photo of the trunk interior where I had a thin rubber mat, removed this and saw that there was surface rust here...the trunk gasket needs to be replaced to keep rain out of the trunk. In fact, any of the rubber seals should be replaced due to their age.
If you have any questions or require additional photos, will do my best to honor these requests. There will be a $500 deposit required by the winning bidder within 72 hours of the auction end and then any other payment besides cash at pick-up will need to be discussed. If you are new to ebay and have no feedback yet, lease message me with your intentions before bidding to avoid your bid being cancelled.
Thanks for looking!
