Up for auctionis a 1968 Chevrolet Biscayne Original L-72 427 425h.p. 4 Speed Car with Original DN Code4.10 Posi rear. This car was sold new atPolar Chevrolet in Minnesota. It was originally equipped with an L-72427 425h.p. M22 4 speed, N code 4.10 Posi rear, our piston caliper disc brakes, ower steering,FactoryTach and Gauge Dash, nd AM radio. The rally wheels were standard with thedisc brake option. The odometer reads 19,548 miles which we fully believeto be the accurate original mileageof the car.
The car was bought by the current owner about 15 years ago. At that time we contacted the 3 prior owners of the car. We were told the car was bought new at Polar Chevrolet in 1968by someone who worked at the dealership. He bought the car to drag race. It was raced up until 1972 at Minnesota Dragways, nd other tracks in the area. Through conversations with prior owners it was found thecar was purchased and taken to Delawarearound 1996. The current owner purchased the car in 2000.
Somewhere along the line of the cars racing history theoriginal engine and transmission were removed. In 2000 when the current owner bought the car it had a 1969 427 390h.p. motor in the car. The current owner decided he wanted to restore the car back to its original L-72 configuration. We located a date correct3935439 casting number block dated May of 196, 919840 casting number heads, 3885069 Intake, correct dated exhaust manifolds, orrect dated and restored smog system. Correct 780 Holley 4053 Carburetor, orrect deep grove pulleys, tc. Muncie M21 4 speed, ebuilt. Correct 621, 1 inch bellhousing. New 11 inch clutch and pressure plate. The suspension was completely detailed. New 4 piston calipers installed. Engine was rebuilt with the correct 11.1 forged pistons, orrect L-72 comp cams camshaft. Heads we completely rebuilt. Motor was put on the dyno. It made 470 h.p. at 5,800 RPM's. In100% stock configuration. Engine compartment was detailed correctly. We alsoinstalled a correct 1968L-72Gardner exhaust system.
Car has hadone repaint sometime in the late 80's toearly 90's. It was repainted the original Grecian Green. Body is laser straight with all original body panels. No rust ever in this car, s it has always been garage kept.It was wet sanded and buffed when the car was restored in 2012. Paint shows very nice. Interior is all original the way it came from GM, ncluding seats, oor panels, nd headliner, nd is in excellent condition. Thecarpet was replacedandalso has thecorrect GMfloor mats. All the bumpers, rim and emblems on the car are original and they show very nice.This car also retains its original trunk spatter paint from GM. Car has the correct DC coderally wheels with NOS trim bands, OS small rally wheel caps(police car hubcaps)and the correct G70-15 Red line tires. Super Chevy Show Editors Choice winner and National Impala AssociationPresidents Choice Winner. This is a veryvery nice car.
