1939 CHEVROLET COE TRUCK
The restoration of this truck was started 3-4 years ago. The truck is in running and driving condition and the brake system has been completely rebuilt. The truck starts, uns, rives and stops.
It has the original 216 6 cylinder engine with factory 4 speed transmission. The truck is also equipped with a 2 speed rear axle (needs shift linkage hooked up). Additionally, he transmission features an optional PTO.
The body and sheetmetal on the truck is complete and relatively solid. It has a few repairable rust holes in the drivers door skin as well as the dings and dents that you would expect in a truck of this age. The lower section of the front fenders and hood will need some sheet metal work. The truck is complete with all the door handles, irrors, mblems and other trim pieces, ncluding the hard to find hood ornament that was only on the 39-40 Chevrolet cabover trucks. The front grill assembly is also complete with all the grill bars in great condition.
The interior of the truck is complete except that it has a newer seat assemblyfrom an unknown truck. The seat riser is still in the truck. All of the factory gauges, andles, nd interior trim are present and complete.
The truckhad been sanded down to bare metal but was recently primered to avoid rust and corrosionwhen the projectstalled and was pushed outdoors.
The truck has six 7.50 x 20 tires. All hold air except one.
The truck currentlyhas no gas tank and runs off of a portable gas can.
The truck is approximately 20 feet long, 1/2 feet tall and 7 1/2 feet wide. Approximately 4000 pounds.
The truck has an Idaho title.
This truck is an excellent example of the early Chevrolet cabover trucks. To my knowledge, 939 is the first year that a COE truck was manufactured by Chevrolet. And is the only year model with the round dash gauges before switching to the more familiar rectangular gauge panel that was used through 1946.
For reference, he final two pictures are of this same truck, s it was found 4 years ago.
