The market for early '60s Impalas remains strong, nd none are as iconic and desirable as the 1964 models like this SS. With clean styling, ton of luxury features, nd potent performance thanks to a wide variety of engines under the hood, hevrolet created an Impala that could be as unique to each buyer as a custom-tailored suit. This 2-door SS sport coupe (yes it is a real code 14 SS) has been thoughtfully restored and offers an ultra-rare color combination, 4-speed, nd a strong-running small block V8. Finished in correct (and very rare) code 971 Desert Beige over Saddle Tan, his SS stands out among its more common red and white brothers. Covering straight, lean bodywork, he copper-like paint looks awesome with just the right amount of metallic, aking it easy to believe it's 1964 all over again. Those long quarter panels are tough to repair if they've been damaged, nd given how straight this car is, t's probably never been rusty or hit. General Motors was building high-quality machinery in the '60s, o panel gaps are up to factory standards, nd the car fits together very well. The paint was done a few years ago, ut still looks good and shines up nicely with no issues hiding underneath. The stainless body trim is excellent, nd the bumpers are so nice, hey just have to have been recently re-chromed. Up front, he Impala's grille is undamaged, hile out back, ll six taillights are bright and clear, ncluding the back-up lamps in the center units. Inside, t's a very nicely finished code 862 saddle bucket seat interior with a ton of cool options. The interior is beautifully finished with new seat covers, ice-looking carpets, nd proper door panels that highlight the Impala's upscale mission. The console is original and features the SS-exclusive engine-turned trim that matches the dashboard, s well as the highly desirable 4-speed shifter. There's also an original accessory tachometer in its own pod above the steering column and all the gauges are fully functional. The slightly darker instrument panel and beautiful two-tone steering wheel really give this Imp a high class look that makes for a wonderful contrast against its performance credentials. This car also comes equipped with a later AM/FM/cassette radio that sounds decent, s well as seat belts for safety. The giant trunk offers no surprises plus a full mat set and a full-sized spare tire.As far as we can tell, his is the car's original 327 cubic inch V8, hich has been rebuilt to mostly stock specs. The heads are high performance pieces from a late-model 350 engine, nd up top there's a recently rebuilt 4-barrel carburetor. It has all been dressed to look very authentic in the Imp's engine bay, rom the Chevy Orange paint on the block, o the decals on the valve covers, o the vintage air cleaner up top. It even uses original "ram's horn" exhaust manifolds and there are tower clamps on the hoses, s original. It fires up easily and drives beautifully, nd is quite likely one of the most reliable and dependable powertrains on the road; you'll be able to enjoy this SS for years without worry. Floors are in excellent condition with no rust or structural issues, gain suggesting that this car has always lived in a dry part of the country. Brakes and suspension have been maintained to factory specs, nd a recent dual exhaust system gives the engine a deep, owerful voice. Recent 14-inch whitewall radials on original wheels with spinner hubcaps look great and ride well.So if you're tired of looking at clones and look-a-likes, nd have been wishing for a real '64 Impala SS sport coupe, ook no further and call today!
