THE STORY BEHIND THIS TRUCK,1957 CAMEO Chevrolet task force pickup truck, ot original. Stored inside for over 30 years total since the beginning purchase of a 57 in 1983. Majority of the work is done. MANY MANY HOURS were taken to locate and purchase the best parts available, ears of swap meets, hone calls. Online searching and bartering took place to accumulate the parts you see here,, ith very little work compared to what has been done, t can be a fabulous driver quality truckI began the cameo part of this truck build 22 years ago, he truck could possibly be registered as a 1956 or 57. Both titles come with the truck. Serial number on the frame matches the 56 title. You decide how you want to license it,, Because if you were to sub-frame it you end up cutting off the serial number portion anyway so you might want to license it as a 57, he rarest of the two is the 56 with less than 1500 built. The serial number on the door jam matches the 57 title. Both titles are clean and in my name and have been registered on the road under my name.. When I first started to build a truck in 1983 I was building a step-side 57 and had most of the sheet metal work complete and primer coats applied when the 56 cameo became available. I didn't want to build but one truck and decided to build the more stylish 57 Cameo than purchase a different nose and cab and go with a 56 looks. The frame and fiberglass bed are from the 56. The original 56 cab and nose were in such bad shape I decided to scrap them out ( Kept the Vin tag off the 56 which come lose with the sale) and elected to use the 57 cab and nose that I already had quite an investment in. Any rust in the sheet metal had been replaced with new metal, ents were repaired and all parts primed and given 2 coats of paint. While the cab was off the frame in pieces and still at the paint shop, painted the frame satin black, and installed the cab back on the frame when it returned from paint, fter the cab was installed it went back to the paint shop for final coat. I began to put it back together but Life got in the way,, ime to sell, br> THE BIG WINDOW CAB and nose is close to complete minus a wiring harnes, inner fenders need installed, nd little odds and ends,,,everything is mounted in the das, ll chrome dash knobs are NEW or polished good used ones, he door hinges have all been rebuilt with NEW stainless pins and bronze bushings, he door handles have been polished and in great condition. I have the optional door sill plates for it, lso have the New Ring guards for the door handles too to keep the paint from being scratched, he metal visor over the windshield is NEW, LL glass is rare green tint and all except the rear glass and one side glass is new. The front and rear are installed with NEW neoprene glass channels. Chrome vent window frames are NEW with NEW seals, oor window frames are good used chrome plated custom cab style and not installed in the doors,, window regulators are good used ones, ame with the latches and door mechanis, new window guide channels. The interior visors are NEW ( black), he glove box insert is NEW, he original seat frame has been stripped of all old covering and padding, as been repaired where needed with springs ect.. it needs very little to be ready for for paint, brand NEW seat cover in the box comes with the truck in original red cloth pattern with the ivory vinyl, xtra material is there to do the door panels as well. The cab corners were not too bad and have been repaired with NEW sheet metal I noticed a small blister on left hand side rocker near the cab corner, he floor is in great shape, have NEW Carpet for the floor. The radio opening has been enlarged slightly to accommodate an after market stereo. Has the fresh air heater with controls. The outside of the cab has all new custom cab chrome around the back window and door windows. The Front grill is like NEW totally rebuilt and all re-chromed like new again ( not reproduction) front bumper is NEW after market chromed, he old chrome bumper comes with it and has the correct brackets, urn signal bezels have been polished and New amber lenses installed. Headlight buckets are NEW reproduction, Wiper motor is Electric (not vacuum) and not installed yet. Front side spears are in excellent shape with the correct 312, esignation. Center v-8 hood emblem is used in great condition. THE FRAME is uncut, he only mods keeping it from being turned back to a stock frame are 1. The truck came to me with a bolt in cross member that accommodates the side motor mounts. ( the truck frame was factory set up for a 6 cylinder 3 speed manual tranny. 2. The riveted in cross member that originally was the mounting for the rear of the motor at the flywheel housing has been modified to make clearance for the automatic transmission.(an unmolested cross member comes with the truck 3. A bolt in rear cross member for the rear transmission support has been added. Steering and brakes are all stock. The rear end is stock. The spare tire pod and the frame to hang it is there and needs a little work, ims and tires shown go with the truck, ires are dated and should be replaced. THE 350 engine has 0 hours,. I started with a 350 4 bolt 1974 010 casting high nickle block out of a truck. After hot tanking it, t was bored out .030 over stock, had the rotating assembly balanced and totally gone through, ods were trued and attached to NEW forged 10.5:1 pistons, the crank was turned and installed with NEW Clevite 77 bearings, new roller timing chain, NEW streetable Erson hydraulic cam with all NEW Erson lifters and pushrods, NEW 2.02 manley s/s valves with a NEW Erson spring and retainer kit matched to the cam. It has NEW polished aluminum oil pan and NEW aluminum polished timing chain covers. I comes with shorty block hugger headers.The motor does not have an intake, n ignition, alve covers, water pump an alternator nor any brackets, elts. The Radiator is an original to the task force trucks, The Transmission is a 1974 turbo 400 automatic that I removed from my caprice with fairly low miles on it. I am willing to reduce the truck price by $1500 if the buyer is not interested in the motor and transmission and I keep them. THE BED comes will all 4 of the side bed trim parts that was used only on the 57 and 58 beds for it, a couple of the side pieces will need some minor repair and polishing before installing. also included is the Chevrolet emblemed panels that go between the side strips at the front of the bed and NEW cameo Script that goes between the strips as well . The taillight housings are original metal and have been RECHROMED with NEW Lenses and gaskets, it comes with 2 NEW tail gate cables and 2 NEW spring loaded take up reels for the NEW tailgate cables. I have the inside latches and parts for the tail gate. The interior of the bed was not refinished because my intention was to cover the interior sheet metal with formed polished stainless steel panels (which have been made and come with the truck) . The bed does not have a wood bed kit but does come with all NEW the s/s strips that hold the wood in place, the tailgate had rusted under the skin, he metal needs repaired/ replaced and or the tail gate replaced and painted before installing the tail gate skin ( which is NEW and painted truck color). The rear bumper parts are all there. The bumber ends and bumper guards need rust repair and replated or painted. The rear tail Chevy tail gate emblem is in like RECHROMED condition. The side rail top trim strips are there and straigh, they may need to be rechromed to be perfect. Same is true for the front edge of the bed trim pieces, here is nearly two sets of these. Two NEW license plate light fitures that fit in the rear bumper.I have done the best I can to describe the truck honestly,, urge bidders to check out the truck before they purchase as with any vehicle online they were to purchase, want the winning bidder to be happy with their purchase,, ick up and Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. $ 2000 dollars is due immedaitely at the close of sale, he remaining must be paid within 3 days of sale.
