Car description |
---|
Perhaps the most desirable of the second generation Camaro's.This car was partially restored by a friend in El Paso Tx, here the car was found. He had the body work done. At that time he decided to not do the code for the White Vinyl top. However he DID elect to re-spray in the originally coded Hugger Orange at that time he decide to do the Z28 Stripes. When I purchased it I had intended to do continue and just finish it along the lines of being totally sympathetic to the wonderful solid sheet metal the car survives with, LL floors are original rust free and still show it's factory speckled floorThe car is a Date coded Van Nuys California built Camaro that was built in Feb. 1970 and is coded for Hugger Orange and white sandalwood deluxe interior with white vinyl top.The correct date stamped VIN Block is a 4 bolt mains L48 50/300 HP. Motor was rebuilt/balanced phase 2 w/ Keith Black pistons, he RPO codes as evidenced on the car when it was found are:Z22 Rally Sport package ((27,000 or roughly 20% of production this first yearZ27 Super Sport package ( 12,400 or roughly 10% of production ""InteriorDoor skins are there and there is one original rear seat panel, he door skins can be restored and there are replacement rear sections cheaply available,Correct Carpet as well as a Camaro Specialties new center console are included. The Orig. SS steering wheelis included but a repo or better new one should be sourced. The very rare and unique to the 1970 model "strato Bucket seats are present alnong w/the rare head-rests.. The white interior upholstery was done some 4 years ago and it is a toss-up as to whether they should be re-covered.. depends on personal standards. The motor as previously described has been rebuilt and Air-conditioning brackets sourced. Car was fired up last year before work stopped and ran smooth and strong. The Body and chassis is in remarkable condition. All the Rally SportTrim components are in the car to be installedas well as head light buckets etc.The purchaser will have the luxury of choosing to do a sympathetic restoration of a very rare 1970 RS/SS or perhaps retain all the components that make this rare and do a Sport touring. The 1970 is a great improvement on many levels over the first generation Camaro's.Original front and rear anti-sway bars present.New Gas tank and straps as well as many items sourced that are present and just need installationThere is one small are of rust in the forward left quarter that evidenced this past year. Car is rock solid. Will need new windshield, new correct wiring Harness provided for installation.Rims and rubber in excellent condition.Car is in Central Pennsylvania - zip code 11951 for shipping calculation.Cheers and good luck to all bidders!
