Car description |
---|
Listed for sale is my 1978 Chevy Malibu Classic. I restored the car about 13 years ago. I built it the way I felt Chevy should have. It was not built to drag race and therefore I have no time slips. I drove it about 700 miles round trip to the Car Craft Summer Nationals in 2013 without a problem. It came to Wisconsin from South Dakota so it was extremely solid. It had one small rust spot on the bottom of one of the doors. That spot was sandblasted before primer and paint. It has a 400 small block bored to a 406 and built by a local race engine builder. It does not have any emissions equipment or catalytic converters on it.There is now way it would pass an emissions test. It has a Muncie 4 speed transmission with a Hurst Competition Plus shifter. The car was originally a V6 automatic and I converted it with a factory pedal setup and bell housing. The interior is out of an '85 Monte Carlo SS. It was used, ut is in good shape. The headliner and carpet were new. The car had power windows and locks. Since I used the door panels from it, here are square openings that the window cranks go over. The blinker switch has cruise and wiper controls on it, ut they are not hooked up. The Malibu wiper switch works in the dash. The tach and gauges in the dash all work. I also took the stabilizer bar, teering box and power trunk release from that car. The rear control arms were boxed with steel plate. I took the car all the way down to body and frame. The entire engine bay, rame and bottom of the car were coated with POR 15 (sprayed). The exhaust is 2 1/2" mandrel bent tubing and 50 series Flowmaster mufflers. It has a g force cross member in it with 2 loops for the exhaust to pass through. The hood is a Goodmark steel cowl induction. The suspension bushings were all replaced with polygraphite bushings. All of the weather stripping including the quarter windows were replaced. All 4 shocks were replaced with new KYB gas shocks. The side and back windows are tinted.
The rear end is the original housing with an Eaton limited slip and Superior axles and gears. The ratio is 3:42.
The transmission is a Muncie M21 and was rebuilt. The clutch is a Center Force
The engine started with a low mile 400 small block. The original crank was used, ut everything else was replaced. The rods are 5.7 Eagle. The pistons are speed pro with coated skirts. It has a Howards Cam with intake .472 and 280 and exhaust .459 and 292. Lobe center is 112. The intake manifold is an Edelbrock Torker. The carb is a Holley Street Avenger 770. The heads are cast iron 76 CC 2.02-1.60. The headers are hooker.
I don't need to sell the car and I don't need help selling the car. If you're nearby and want to look at in person, lease message me and come take a look. I had a guy use an independent inspector to come look at a truck for him in the past. I welcome that as well. I have nothing to hide. With that being said, here is no warranty expressed or implied. The car is sold as is. To the best of my knowledge there are absolutely no issues with the car, ut it's still and old car that sits around a lot. Anything could happen.
