I was 15 years old in April 1980. My grandfather was being released from the hospital due to a minor stroke. he was 79. My father and I went to pick him up and he told us life is short. take me to the Cadillac dealer I want a new Eldorado. We went right to Crest cadillac in Staten Island and this car was on the showroom floor. 2 hours later we were driving it home. I was in the backseat and as far as I know no one else has ever been in the back seat. My grandfather drove it sparingly till he died in 1983 the car had about 2k miles on it at the time of his death. My grandmother then drove it for about 6 more years sparingly for local shopping etc. It pretty much sat in the garage all the time. We took it out on nice days and a few trips here and there. It now has under 14k original miles on her. She still has her original brake pads belts hoses antifreeze etc. Her original rear air suspension is still in place and works. I have her build sheet and all original owners card and paperwork from the day of purchase. All original keys+ key chains from Crest Cadillac. Its title was placed into my grandmothers name after my Grandfathers estate was settled and remains in her name now. She passed a few years ago at age 100. I can't let the car deteriorate and just sit covered outside. She runs and drives but will need to be tuned and gone over to drive daily. The check engine light comes on sometimes and shows either coolant sensor or map sensor needing replacement I don't remember. Sometimes it idles like a new Lexus. nd sometimes a bit choppy but no noise smoke or anything. just needs a tune to replace all the 1980 plugs wires etc. In 1987 or so it was stolen for a joy ride. and recovered a few days later. the only damage was 3 flat tires(no wheel damage at all) the steering column plastic which was repaired perfectly. also. the thieves scribed their street names with a knife point or screwdriver apparently. nto the hood paint and right door paint. All paint is factory original except for the hood and top portion of right door. ere repainted back then. erfect match same exact paint. The paint is still fairly shiny and could stand a detail to look real nice. Has 2 door dings on left door and 2 small on right door. Can be painless removed if desired. Grandma did take it to the supermarket. nd thats where it was stolen. She's not new or perfect. ut can be if you want to. 3. 85 miles since new is hard to find. The 1980 is considered a great year for this style eldorado with the Cadillac 368 6. 0 NON multi displacement. The trunk has never had anything placed in it and is as new . the interior looks new. I replaced the tires in around year 2000 due to dry rot. It has the rare aluminum wheels. Ive known this car since day one and will be sad to see her go. I had wanted to simply give this to a friend. ut extended family disagreed. nd wants it sold. Please only bid to win pay and own. Thank you.
