Car description |

1941 Cadillac Series 61 Fastback Coupe.
Family owned since 1995, this low mileage piece of pre-war automobile history has been stored in a climate controlled facility and has been well maintained. Documentation is also present from ownership. Per the previous owner, this vehicle spent some time in an auto museum inMassachusetts prior to his ownership.
Body:The body is original and has been well maintained. The sheet metal is very straight. The silver paint on the roof is original and is in great shape for being 80 years old. The gray paint was redone by a local body shop approximately 18 years ago and still looks amazing. All of the chrome trim is original to the vehicle, and does have some pitting present. The entire vehicle was polished out two years ago and then ceramic coated.
Chassis:The underside of this vehicle is in good condition. The frame is free of any defects, and the serial number is stamped and easy to read on the drivers side frame rail. The floor pans are in good condition and free of any structure issues. There is one small spot on the drivers side floor pan that has a small hole, I have attached a photo to show the area in question. The drum brakes are in good condition, all wheel cylinders have been replaced over the course of the last 10 years. No concerns with the exhaust system, tires, or steering linkage.
Drivetrain:The engine is a 346 cubic inch flathead V8, believed to be the original engine to the vehicle. The engine runs very smooth, and is very quiet when running. A remote oil filter system was added to the vehicle prior to our ownership. Lead substitute is used at every fill up, the engine has been rebuilt prior to ownership but it is unknown if the cylinder heads have hardened valve seats. The transmission is a two speed automatic transmission, it shifts well and has no issues when driving.
Interior:The interior is original and is in good condition for the age of the vehicle. There is a slight tear in the seat bottom for the driver. Normally seat covers are on, but have been taken off to show the condition of the material. The steering wheel has some cracks in it from age, and the horn ring requires repair. There are vendors who can restore the steering wheel and trim components. The clock in the dash in inoperable, along with the dash lights. The indicator for the turn signals and high beam headlamps does work.
Electrical System:The vehicle retains the original six volt electrical system, it has not been upgraded to a 12 volt system.
