Car description |
---|
1960 Cadillac convertible. I've had this car for 18 years, originally a white car, the previous owner had it painted in Cadillac heather or close to it. It has a real Elvis vibe to it, I completed several projects on the car, interior, and the rechroming of a lot of trim and the bumpers, after several years the transmission started leaking and I lost interest in it. Since then sat in my climate controlled garage and I moved on to other projects. Recently I decided to par down my collection some and so I had the transmission rebuilt (4K) swapped out the old gas and fired it up.The car has an older restoration and paint when I bought it (single stage, probably Acrylic Enamel but I'm not sure), still at driver quality with a couple of scratches etc. There is no rust showing on the painted areas but the quality of the restoration was not that high and there is some bondo work under the paint, how much, I have know idea but its held up for the 18 years I've had it. The side glass was replaced with tinted safety laminate so the tint can not be removed or changed with out replacing the glass. The door and rear side glass frames were rechromed at that time, the glass does have a purple hue to it and looks good on the car on the rare occasion the top is not down. The chrome and trim is in good shape over all, some really nice, some needs attention. The big items, bumpers, are in good shape, all the trim is present, the very hard to find quarter panel trim is a little wavy but could be restored. The right front wheel opening trim has a small dent at the bottom back side. Several pieces of the exterior trim were rechromed 16 years ago. There are four Coker radial wide white wall tires with very little mileage on them. The convertible top came with the car, it is a cheaper vinyl type and the previous owner had put four snaps on each side along the top to help keep it pulled tight. Back glass plastic is in good shape .I put a new pump for the top in 16 years ago, still works fine. It also comes with a mid grade California Car Cover pictured in the truck. It has a custom auto sound AM/FM cassette with a couple of pioneer box speakers mounted in the convertible top storage area under the cloth liner and a pair of small speakers behind the dash in the original space.
The engine is a Cadillac 390 that runs good but could probably use a tune up .I had the original carburetor rebuilt about 16 years ago and put a new exhaust on at that time as well. The odometer shows 13376 so I assume that is original mileage with one roll over but can not verify that. i also assume its the original motor but have not checked the numbers.
The interior was redone 16 or so years ago per original with leather seating. The carpet was replaced buy the previous owner and is in good shape. The dash pad has had some repairs done on it and i would call it fair in condition. the steering wheel is original and in fair shape as well with the chrome center having been rechromed. The chrome dash panels are in great shape as well as the rest of the interior chrome .Over all the interior is really nice shape and could be show quality with a few improvements.
Everything except the power antenna works, one of the rear side windows is getting really slow. It may loosen up with some use or may need a motor down the road. The two way power seat switch is a bit wobbly but works, I may have an extra one, if I do I'll send it with the car.
The trunk has had a new liner installed by the previous owner that is in fair to good shape and includes a spare tire with original cover, jack, tire iron and wheel chalk.
If you are expecting a $65,000 dollar car for half the money, move on. If your looking for a driver that you can enjoy and continue improvements or a car that has potential or a candidate for a full blown restoration at a fair price you should take a closer look. If purchased, I would recommend that the car be gone over by someone with knowledge before taking to the streets. Check the brakes, steering components etc. just to be safe as the car has been sitting for so many years. All I have done is take it around the block a couple of times and the transmission (AAMCO) shop test drove it some .
I'm willing to discuss delivery for a fair price, I will not deliver so someone can decide they don't want the car when I get there so the sale will have to be completed prior to delivery. I do have on open trailer that can handle a car of this size. I have/had several of these cars and a 60 coupe deville I sold would not go in an enclosed trailer so beware. If you plan to pick it up, please be aware of the size and weight. I'll be happy to assist any way I can in that area.
$500 non refundable deposit due at auction closing, balance in cash or method I agree to. Don't bid if you can't buy!!!! Clean title in my name
