Very unique, steel top custom Cadillac Woodie Wagon! One of only 14 ever produced by skilled craftsmen in Costa Rica! Excellent wood work, color accents, and finishing throughout! Take a close look at this rare treasure! Not to be seen again anytime soon!
In 1941, Cadillac styling took a major turn. For the first time, headlights were fully integrated into the front fenders, and a horizontal-theme grille stretched from side to side. The hood was made front-opening for the first time, and the gas tank filler was hidden in the left rear taillight, a feature that became a Cadillac hallmark. A Series 61 Fastback was offered in both Coupe and Sedan designs as well. Power came from the dependable 346ci L-head V8 producing a strong 150 horsepower with Stromberg Aerotype carburetion and 3-speed manual transmission as standard equipment. The ride was smooth utilizing coil spring, independent front suspension and live rear axle with semi-elliptic springs. Stopping power came from large, four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes.
Offered here is a very unique 1941 Cadillac Series 61 custom built 6-passenger Woodie Wagon! Finished in highly desired Burgundy over Tan Leather interior with matching carpets and full headliner! Said to be one only 14 Cadillacs converted by a special restoration shop based in Costa Rica using the finest woods available! Their experts hand-fitted and custom finished the wood framework with outstanding results! The low fastback roofline of the original Series 61 Sedan allowed for a special low profile stance never found on any typical Cadillac station wagon, not to mention the expertise to hand form a full steel roof! You have to admit, it is one of the most attractive, might even say sporty, wood-attired wagons to take out to the dinner club on Saturday night!
The overall condition is outstanding, with the chassis nicely painted underneath, along with the exterior body color being using underneath indicating a proper frame-off style restoration. Inside, the seating surfaces are recovered in real tan leather, with tight loop floor carpeting throughout, along with custom fit headliner. The door panels maintain the wood exterior theme. Options on this outstanding Cadillac include highly detailed original 346ci Flathead V8, 3-speed manual transmission, pushbutton AM radio, heater/defrost, rear wheel skirts, front bumper guard, turn signals, telescoping sun visors, carpeted floor mats, front cowl vent, chromed rear fender guards, and upgraded Coker Classic wide whitewall 225/75R15 radial tires with matching spare hidden in the rear storage compartment.
This incredible Cadillac has been recognized in the Cadillac LaSalle Club- Potomac Region for several years now, participating in the Celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the 1941 Cadillac in 2016 Capital Cadillac/CLC Fall Show in 2016, and taking 2nd Place honors in its class at the Cadillac Grand Nationals held in McLean, Virginia in August 2017. Upon arrival to the St. Louis Car Museum, we had the both the original 6-volt generator and starter professionally rebuilt, along with installing a new battery in February 2018. It continues to run and operate wonderfully! This represents a very unique opportunity to an astute private collector or museum to add as a highlight to any automobile collection! As always, we are happy to assist in worldwide shipping arrangements.
