Overview Of Entire Vehicle: *Condition #3 (Excellent Survivor Example)

Here is an absolutely beautiful 1961 Cadillac 4-Window Sedan DeVille in unbelievably amazing condition for being mostly all original. Yes, this is a true survivor with mostly all original paint, all original chrome, all original interior and showing only 36k actual miles. This beautiful Cadillac has been extremely well maintained, preserved and taken care of its entire life and it shows. The fit and finish is excellent as it has never been taken apart. It's a very pretty color combination of Dresden Blue Metallic with matching Cromwell blue cloth and leather interior which is in amazing original condition as well. This car has spent most its life indoors as the body is completely rock solid and totally rust-free. It even has the original dealers tag on the trunk which is still in excellent condition. This car is originally from St. Paul, MN but obviously did not spend much time there and has been kept mostly inside. We recently took this car in trade on a low mileage 2004 Corvette we had from a collector in Iowa. It is a very nicely equipped car with power seat, power windows, AM Radio, power steering, power brakes etc. The car shows very well and presents amazing for a survivor. You do not find survivors like this as they are hard to find and do not come around very often. This car is a true pleasure to own and drive and overall is very wonderful Cadillac.

4-Speed Automatic Transmission

Wide White Wall Radial Tires

Exterior: *Condition #3

The exterior of this car shows beautifully as it is a true survivor and has mild patina here and there. It has mostly original paint finished in gorgeous Dresden Blue Metallic. The body is extremely solid and completely rust-free. It has had a few minor touchups on the cowl and under the trim line on the rockers and fenders where there were a few scratches that we did touch up. The rest of the paint appears to be original and for the year and age is in really amazing condition. There are a few little chips and dings over the years and a little spottiness in the metallic from being buffed and cleaned for almost 60 years but still shows excellent for an original car. We would leave the car exactly as it is as it tells the story of just how well the car was taken care of. If you want it 100% you could paint it if you choose and so desire but we don't think it needs it at all and would leave it the way it sits. The car has all original chrome and trim that is in wonderful condition overall and we would give the chrome a 3+ rating as there is absolutely no pitting anywhere. It has all its original glass and all original rubber which are all in excellent condition. It still has all 4 of its original T3 headlights which are crystal clear as well as crystal clear original taillight lenses. The windshield does have a little de-lamination in the bottom right corner but is overall in excellent condition for original and we would leave it as well. It is sitting on its original wheels and hubcaps wrapped in Coker American Classic wide white wall radial tires for a smooth and dreamy ride.

Interior: *Condition #3

The interior of this car is an amazing all original Cromwell blue cloth and light blue leather that shows very well. The seat cloth shows a little age but is still soft and pliable with no tears or rips. One spot on the drivers cloth was replaced with OEM material from SMS, who provides all the fabric for restorations. The car still has its original carpeting and original blue matching Cadillac floor mats all in excellent condition. The dash and gauge cluster is in amazing condition, the steering wheel is absolutely gorgeous and all the brightwork inside the car is beautiful and shines spectacularly. It has all its original weatherstripping throughout the car which is still in excellent condition too. The interior really shows to the preservation and how well taken care of the car has been over the years. Everything works in the car including the power windows, the power seat, heater/defroster, power antenna, and the horn except for the radio and the courtesy lights which could just be some bulbs. Inside the trunk is beautiful and completely all original with its original trunk liner, paint, weatherstripping, spare, jack, jack instructions etc. It looks like the trunk has hardly ever been used in the car and shows wonderfully. Overall the interior is in amazing condition and is what an excellent survivor should look like.

Mechanically: *Condition #3+

Mechanically this car is in excellent condition. We completely checked out the car from front to back mechanically and it runs and drives amazing like a true low mileage Cadillac should. You cannot beat an original low mileage car as they always run and drive way better than any restored car. It has its original 390ci V8 engine with automatic transmission that runs very strong and smooth. Under the hood has been beautifully detailed, as even wonderful survivors tend to show some age over 50+ years. Everything is 100% stock but truly looks like a show car that will really impress people when you open the hood. We went through the brakes, replaced the battery, etc and it is ready to drive and enjoy.

Under Carriage: *Condition #3

Underneath the car is nice and solid with no signs of any rust at all. The car has been factory undercoated and looks dry for the most part. The floors and rockers are all original sheet metal and in excellent condition. The front suspension is nice and clean just like a low mileage car should be. It has been maintained well as it has new shocks and drives like a dream. The only thing that could be replaced is the drivers side resonator. You don't really notice or hear it while driving but it does have a couple cracks and holes in it due to moisture over time but is nothing major. Overall it is rock solid and looks factory correct and really clean.
