1949 Cadillac Fleetwood 75 Sedan
Luxurious, classic, unique, rare - All attributes that best describe this beautiful limousine
The Series 75 was Cadillac's largest, most luxurious and most expensive model offered. This body style first appeared in 1941 and returned after the war, even when other cars followed a more modern design.
While competing with Packard to accommodate luxury-class buyers, the Series 75 retained its "turret-top" pre-war styling, riding on the long 136 inch wheelbase, using a body not shared with other GM divisions.
Five different touring sedan configurations were offered, with this being the 7 passenger sedan -of which less than 600 were made for 1949.It did receive however the new overhead valve V8, displacing 331 cui
and attached to the 4 speed Hydramatic automatic transmission.Which makes this automobile a 1 year only model and the most improved version of this classic limousine line.
The Cadillac is very rare and in good condition. There are jump seats that fold into the back of the front seat, allowing for extra passengers.Adjustable footrests for the rear passengers are present as well, along
with sliding quarter windows. The craftsmanship on this vehicle is exceptional. All interior window garnish moldings are solid steam-bent black walnut and the door handle escutcheons are gold plated.
Besides power hydraulic windows and front seat, the car is equipped with a electric clock (not working),dual under seat heaters, a deluxe radio (not working) with rear shelf speaker. Also a spot light and a glare
proof rear view mirror. The running boards are stainless steel. The hydraulic system for windows and seat is sensitive, but it does work.An added feature is the optional removable B-pillar on the passenger side.
The paint has a deep luster and almost looks black but it is deep blue. Although the paint shows its age, the patina looks great. There are hairline cracks in the lacquer, as well as some oxidation, along with chips
& dings from normal use. There are a couple of minor rust spots underneath.Interior looks to be original and the odometer reads 62,000 miles.
