When it comes to vintage automobiles, California and the West Coast of the United States have always been the most desirable the world over for many reasons; the mild climate and the fact that many automotive trends started in California. The automobile is the perfect technological symbol of American culture, a tangible expression of our quest to level space, time, and class and a reflection of our relentless mobility, social and otherwise. You see automobiles advertised the world over described as California cars because at some point they were in California or drove through California. A true California car is one that was sold new in California and titled in California, one that has the original plates that are on that title is a true California car.We are liquidating a collection of 300 actual California cars. This is a collection that took 70 years to comprise. Most have the original paint and original California licence plates issued to them when they were new.

This beautifulCascade green and white 1965 Cadillac DeVille is a time warp back 54 years ago when Lyndon B Johnson was the leader of the free world. This car oozes with originality that exemplifieswhy Cadillac was the "Standard of the World" when it came to fine automobiles. Simply put this car is a survivor and should be the bar for 1965 Cadillac Hardtop DeVilles. This particular Cadillac was sold new at Pat Patterson Cadillac in Oakland, California in 1965. This car has only resided in Oakland, California for the last 54 years. This car drove on average less than 4,000 miles a year before it was locked away into a climate controlled warehouse in 1985. At 54 years old they don't get much nicer or original than this car.
At first glance the exterior sets the tone for this car. This hardtop Deville is beautifully per portioned in originality and quality making it a prime example of what a proper 1965 Cadillac looks like. The original Cascade Green paint looks stunning after 54 years, its shines nicely and has no signs of rust and has very little if any imperfections. It truly is a testament to how this car has lived its sheltered life and the quality Cadillac built their cars in 1965. The conditionof the white vinyl top is similar to the body, there isn'tany imperfections you typically see on a 54 year old car. The cascade green on white really is a nice combo and it is amazing to see one in this original and nice condition. All the chrome shines great with no pitting, nothing is missing on the exterior. The original dual black plates are not only both present but are in great shape last being registered in 1985.
The Interior of this car is in exceptional condition. The dash and instrument cluster are in great shape with no cracks, pitting or really any imperfections. Nothing is missing and everything works. The door panels again are in fantastic shape, nothing is missing no worn spots or tears. The seats are in great shape with no rips or tears. The carpet is in great shape and shows signs of little use as well as the pedals typical of cars with low miles. The headliner is flawless and has no tears or sagging. The interior is in very original nice shape.
Mechanically this Cadillac is in good running condition. The 340hp Cadillac 429 starts shifts and brakes like a 1965 Cadillac should. The motor is in original condition and still has factory test chalk marks. The transmission shifts effortlessly. All the lights work as well as the horn.
