Car description

For Sale – a very special car. Near concours condition. Driven to “Cars and Coffee” events, and around town once in a while.

I am selling what is close to a #1 (Old Car Trader) or Senior (Cadillac Lasalle Club) car that you might find in the wild.

I was never going to sell this car, but never has come about due to a medical condition found over the 4th July weekend this year and which has progressed unbelievably quickly. Enough about that. I intended to keep it mostly original and drive it to shows and some weekends. Things change.

Original color, but a repaint with clear coat over the paint. Seats only (not entire interior) replaced with white Cadillac leather pillow top convertible seats from a 1976 Eldorado. Interior was originally all black, and yes, I have the original seats stored in protective plastic bags, and those seats have no rips, tears, etc. See more about seats further below.

This car has documentation and receipts for almost $100,000 in work, and another $35,000 can be inferred by what is done, though without receipts in hand. There is complete provenance including protect-o-plate from the original owner up to and through me. Just under 50,000 actual miles, with about 3,000 since the bulk of the restoration.

I purchase a not quite completed restoration and finished it.

Offered at $88,000 which represents 65 cents on the restoration dollar. If you are specifically looking for this car – you know you won’t be able to duplicate the level of fit and finish anywhere near this price. Offers less than $50,000 automatically rejected - just not worth it to me - I'll pass it on to someone.

The AC works, but still needs some sorting – the controls direct air to the wrong elements – which means taking the dash apart again (sigh).

It has things like new convertible top, new top hydraulics, NOS bumpers and headlight bezels, new correct color paint, and has been completely redone, nuts and bolts refinished. The steering wheel is the correct, fully functional, one year only rim-blow wheel. I have a real NOS right side exterior mirror (presently unmounted) which will go with the car – they only made a few hundred of them – I have one. Everything was rebuilt – the top hydraulics and linkages, the engine, the trans, etc. It’s all very, very well done.

You can eat off the frame – and note it was body-off-frame rotisserie restored. New stainless exhaust.

I have a two 30 lb. cylinders of R-12 for my older cars, and that’s what’s in it. Engine was rebuilt, trans as well. Stainless replica exhaust installed. Every nut and bolt was removed and detailed.

When I purchased it, the load leveling suspension originally installed was missing – I have since purchased the components (including NOS compressor) and have most of what needs to be done (goes with car) but had not as of this date gotten around to installing them.

I have the build sheet from the Cadillac heritage folks – it was highly optioned from the factory, including tilt-telescope steering wheel, cruise, split bench, with power seats both sides, etc. There is quite a bit of literature that goes with the car – including the original protect-o-plate and history of ownership, dealer books, as well as most of the restoration receipts and details of what was done week by week.

The only item not original are the seats presently installed because I wanted white seats – which in this case are out of a Cadillac Eldorado convertible – with power passenger recliner and individual arm rests. I do have the original split bench in black, which has 6-way power both sides, arm rest on passenger side, fully restored in real ostrich pattern leather available. I think the white really makes the car “pop”, but buyer’s choice.

If you buy this now, then at the asking price you can have either the pillow top seats shown in the photos – they are 1976 Eldorado true convertible with 8-way power (yes, electric recliners) both sides – all original, no rips, tears, etc., or … with a $5000 discount a set of 1976 Eldorado white leather non-pillow top seats, or with a $7000 discount, the original 1969 Black leather split bench – with passenger side power. Regardless of choice – they are all pristine, no rips, tears, and butter soft. The above said, if it’s not sold soon, the pillow tops are going into my 1972 Eldorado restoration, and this car will definitely get the non-pillow white seats (and a bit of a drop in price). The original black seats are all wrapped in protective plastic bags and can bolt right back in.

I have a replacement convertible top boot in white, and the original boot in black.

Pictures can’t fully describe it, and if you are serious about this car you will need to come to Nashville, TN and look it over.

I’m selling all of my vehicles (save whichever is last) due to life changing events. No fire sale, but all must go over the next year or so. If unsold will re-list from time to time.

This is a used vehicle, and is sold as is, where is. I am a private individual selling from my collection which needs whittling down. That said, I have no problem in telling you that I would drive it across the country without any compunctions. Can't say that about all my cars, but those for which I feel good about - I do say it.

Last, but not least – while you “could” drive it across country, you would be foolish to do anything other than to ship it enclosed via Horseless, Reliable, Passport, or similar.
