I'm selling this for a friend. It's a 1953 Cadillac with just under 57000 original miles. Engine is original and untouched. The original transmission was rebuilt. The car ran and drove fine when bought over 15 years ago. It was taken to a local body shop for restoration as soon as it was bought. The owner has since lost interest and decided to sell. The car hasn't been run since it's been at the body shop but with some fresh gas it should start up and run fine. The transmission hasn't had any miles put on it since the rebuild. The rebuild cost was over $2000. The body was completely gone through. There were some small rust holes in the floors and rockers. They were cut out and new metal welded in. The interior floor and trunk floor have been coated with truck bedliner for durability. Underneath the car retains it's original factory undercoating. The bottom of the doors are rust free and solid. The doors were removed from the car and all edges and jambs were painted. The inside of the trunk lid is all original paint and has not been repainted. The paint is show quality base coat/clear coat that was sanded and buffed. The paint and bodywork cost over $15000. The dash and steering wheel are all original paint and untouched. The original interior will need to be redone and there is no headliner or carpet. The car will need new glass throughout. We have the original glass but some pieces are cracked and yellowed. The front and rear bumpers were sent out to California and were replated show quality chrome at a cost of $3700. The grille and rest of the chrome and stainless trim will need to be polished or plated. Unfortunately I do not have pictures of the interior, bumpers or trim pieces. They are all in storage but are included in this auction.
