Car description

Thank you for viewing my highly optioned1968 Cadillac Eldorado finished in Spectre Blue Firemist, with a white vinyl top and white interior. It is showing just 76,145 miles from new.And of course it has the 472 V8 and an automatic transmission. This is Eldorado is equipped with the extremely rarefront seat warmeralong with these options:

  • cruise control
  • tilt and telescopic steering wheel
  • automatic climate control
  • six-way power seat
  • twilight sentinel
  • power door locks
  • padded vinyl roof
  • AM/FM stereo radio with dual front and rear speakers
  • Guide-matic power headlight dimmer
  • rear window defogger
  • door edge guards
  • white sidewall tires
  • auxiliary horn (appears to be installed on this Eldorado)
  • firemist finish
  • leather upholstery
  • front seat warmer (mentioned above)

I've checked this Eldorado over carefully, and I believe all these options are present, which is really impressive. About 24,500 Eldorados were produced in 1968 and its unlikely that more than two or three hundred had heated seats, but when you consider the rest of the options on this Cadillac, the rarity of it becomes clear. It is truly something special. Heated seats were essentially unheard of in 1968, but this car has them.Hard to believe. In fact, I heard an unusualstory about a dogcatcher in San Bernadinowho had one of these heated seat Eldos andmanaged torig up a way to slipslices of beef jerky into the seatwarmer when he was on his daily rounds. This began as a way to heat up his own lunch but he soon realized he was on to something. So it became his routine that after a couple tripsthrough town to cast his odoriferous net, he'd just park by the village green and wait for the pooches to arrive for dinner. Might besome yarn spinning in that one, I'm notsure, but it does convey the mythic status of such a rare automobile.

This Eldorado drives like a dream. I've taken it out on several occasions and it is tight and creak/squeak free. The power windows work, the power seats work and the stereo is phenomenal. And the degree to which this car is rust-free is truly amazing. Please look at all the photosI've included and watch the videos, as I've done my best to give a clear impression of the incredible condition of this Eldorado. Much of the paint is the original lacquer, so that it has its fair share of thinned spots and checking, especially on the doors and hood. It also has the scars of age -- dings, dents, scratches, etc.-- but regardless, this is a truly beautiful car to behold. Here are links to more photos and videos:
