You are viewing a prime of example of what luxury and status was like in the mid 70's. Its hard to believe that these large luxury liners were everyday drivers back in the 70's. Cadillac always believed that a larger then life presence was a symbol of stature, success and class. Unmistakably you knew when you saw a Cadillac. A vast 20 feet long, tail fins, a large crested wreath hood ornament and enough chrome to build a small diner with. In today's standard, seeing something this large slowly cruise by you is somewhat ghostly and it almost takes your breath away. Unfortunately everything must come to end and by 1977 the Coupe DeVille was a foot shorter in length and a lifetime away from its former glory. Because we were so engrossed in looking ahead, these large Caddys went forgotten through the 80's and 90's. Although you may have seen an old timer driving one to the grocery store now and then preaching about how things used to be made, it really wasn't until the crack of the century that the 70's classic luxury cars started to become popular once again. As each era passes, it births the new generation of collectors and guys now that are established in life remember the days of cruising these old warhorses around town, on a date or to the prom and it prompts them to collect the cars they remembered from their past. Maybe because we want to relive our childhood memories once again. Whatever the reason is, I'm glad to see these cars are being collected and appreciated, its symbolic to the history of American Automobiles. Please read on and find out more about this rare find. There are plenty of photos as you scroll down and video at the very bottom.
Exterior:
The body of the vehicle is very impressive. There was one repaint that was done in the mid to late 90's and still shines beautifully. The paint has great depth but a good buff job would only enhance the finish. The ORIGINAL chrome is gorgeous with hardly any pitting. The rest of the bright work is beautiful as well. The glass is clear with no damage, chips or scratches. The body is straight with NO signs of any previous damage. The floors, trunk, and frame are solid and original. The vinyl top is original and I believe it may have been dyed once. The previous owner said it was original and the car was always garaged. There is a slight bubble around the top's edge on the paint and a crack near the rear license plate in the plastic bumper filler(see pictures). The wheels have been change to true wire wheels and I actually like that look, but if you prefer original, the original wheels and hubcaps are in the trunk.
Interior:
The interior is absolutely beautiful. There are no visible signs of cracks on the dash and door panels and the leather seating looks beautiful with very minimal wear. The carpet is in excellent condition and showing very very minor wear on the driver's side. The cadillac floor mats are not original in the front but have certainly done its job to protect the flooring. The headliner is original and everything works inside including power windows and power antenna. An aftermarket stereo was installed in the glove box, out of sight. Please look at the pictures and let me know of any questions you may have.
Drive-Train:
The 500 cubic inch mammoth engine under the hood runs excellent and the transmission shifts perfectly. I would go through the tune up motions, new plugs, wires, cap and rotor and set the timing. The vehicle hasn't been driven much in the last 4 years and has been in climate controlled storage its whole life. The brakes, shocks(air shocks in the back) all belts and hoses are in excellent visual condition and I wouldn't hesitate driving this car home. Tires are fairly new and in excellent condition. Exhaust is also in very good condition. Please let me know any questions you may have.
In Summation:
Classics like these are hard to find in this condition and with these kind of miles. This Caddy only had two owners its whole life and as mentioned before, has been stored inside, always. The condition speaks for itself. This Cadillac is being offered at NO RESERVE so good luck bidding!!!
Payment:
$200 non refundable deposit is required by PAYPAL immediately after auction end. Payment in full within 7 days. I can assist with storage if you're arranging shipping. Please abide by these rules. Thank you!
