I have for sale this beautiful and all original 1978 cadillac sedan deville d'elegance. This is a lifetime local Santa Cruz car that had one elderly owner. Car has amazingly low mileage of just 20,700. I purchased the car from the original owners son, who was adamant about the miles being 100% correct, as his mother would only drive the car on sundays to church and perhaps the grocery store, both of which were only about a mile or less from their home. The fellow I purchased the car from shares a moniker with a popular fast food chain's mascot, a one Ronald Mcdonald. Make no mistake though, this is no clown car! This is the D'elegance model, and it seems to be loaded with every option GMs luxury division had in its arsenal in '78. Power everthing, including the seats which still work great. Headlight sentinel, cruise, tilt/telescoping wheel, automatic door locks when shifted to drive, full interior lighting package with timed delay, fender signal indicators, climate control, digital radio with 8 track, automatic air leveling rear suspension, electric trunk lid closing etc... Maybe my favorite option is the big 425ci under the hood. Even entering deep into the smog restriction of the late 70's, this caddy still feels very nimble and motivated by the big, smooth, torquey and quiet 425. Engine runs very strong and the transmission shifts like butter. This of course is a big car in every way, and it rides like, well... a cadillac! suspension is tight and very compliant, the car rides like a dream without being too bouncy or mushy, actually handles quite well. Brakes work like new and stop this yacht with confidence and zero drama. steering is fingertip light, with no slop, no wandering, no pulling. Car loves the open road. Such a pleasure on the highway, comfy smooth and very quiet inside. Speaking of the inside, most peoples living rooms cant rival the opulence of this caddys interior. Plush pillow top seats, highly decorated door panels, swaths of fake wood, deep shag carpets adorn this nice place to be. The pictures dont do the color of the interior justice. Everything is a deep forest green and is absolutely gorgeous in person. The carpet is nicely manicured enough to practice your golf game on. In short, the inside is near mint. Only issue is the headliner has sagged and will need replacement in the future, but is not low enough to be annoying or touch your head.
Moving outside we find more of that lovely green. Highly metallic paint shines nicely, and is in overall very good shape. Few small dings, chips and flaws around the car, but nothing at all serious. Trunk lid had some fine crazing to it, most likely from a car over sitting on it for years. vinyl top is mint. Filler panels have been replaced and look good, but paint is not a perfect match. Car is overall extremely nice, but with anything this age, it does have a few issues that will need attention; The headliner I mentioned. The A/C is all there, but most likely needs a recharge to blow cold. The power antennae is not currently functioning, but the radio operates as it should. One door lock actuator has started acting up, passenger rear door, and I have been unable to get the door to open. Other than those few little issues, the car is ready to be hopped into and spoil you in style and comfort immediately! If you've been looking for this era of Cadillac, or just want to get into a great dependable classic car that can actually be driven daily, please consider taking a look at this great old piece of GM prestige. I cant take the car out without getting a ton of compliments, its just a really nice car to drive and enjoy. Feel free to contact me with any questions, happy to answer. Thanks for looking! Happy holidays and happy bidding!
