Car description

I have a 1960 Cadillac Sedan De Ville that is a 76,000 mile original survivor car. This is one of the most unmolested original cars I have ever seen. As far as I know it has been off the road since 1992 and has been in a garage ever since. It runs, drives, and stops. All the lights work except the speedometer light ( I think this could be a fuse but I do not know much about cadillacs of this vintage and have not looked into it yet). I put a new master brake cylinder on it as well as some new brake lines. The power windows all seem to work but I have not tried to roll them down all the way. The original dual speaker factory radio works excellent also. I had it outside running the other day and tried the heater to find out it workstoo!Under the hood, the engine bay looks like it has never been touched. it still has the original appearing glass sediment bulb filter on the fuel pump and I'm pretty sure it has the original factory spark plug wires. None of the engine wiring has been cut or modified in any way that I have seen. I do not believe that mice have been in the carand caused any damage either! From the looks of the underside, I'd say the exhaust is still factory original except for the mufflers. The factory dual exhaust is all there and functionalbut its 1960 so it will need to be replaced! The underside of the car has surface rust but nothing that is what I would consider to be frame rot or anything of that nature. I believe the only rust on the car is what you can see in the lower fenders behind the front tires. The lower rockers have some rust as well but I think it is all very easily fixable. The doors shut tight and have that new car "click" to them. Original carpet is still in the car and should be replaced to freshen it up inside. The factory floor mats are still with the car and I would bet that the original spare tire is there also. Its a firestone 500 tire and from the look of it I'd say its 1960 vintage as well. The trunk also still has the complete tire changing kit as well which includes a wrench, wheel block and jack. The engine starts good and is a quiet runner. There is an oil change paper on the dash which shows the car had its oil changed every 3,000 miles. I have only driven the car a short distance down the highway and at 35 mph because it is sitting on very old bias ply tires! The transmission seemed to shift fine and I didn't notice any unusual noises. I forgot to mention that this car is also running off of its original gas tank and the original fuel gauge still works! These are very rare things to have still working and can be a pain in the butt to fix if they aren't! In my opinion this would be an awesome survivor car to take to shows as is, drive around as is, or do a complete high end restoration! All the chrome is present and in very nice shape. The bumper chrome is nice and shines but it's original 1960 so keep that in mind! I think with new tires and maybe making sure the wheel brake cylinders are good, you can have this car reliably on the road. The paint looks to be mostly original but there are areas on the car that have been touched up at some point in the cars life so keep that in mind! The glass is in great shape in the car with no crackshowever the front windshield has those light wiper marks that appear on most old windshields if the wiper blades weren't changed often enough. I don't think this would bother me driving it but I am trying to describe the car as best I can! I'm sure I forgot something so If I did just ask! I think this caddy is a rare findin this shape and you don't see them around every day either. I have never seen another one like it at a car show in Iowa before. I have no idea what the value on this caddy should be so I am going to have what I think is a low reserve so bid accordingly! The car is for sale locally here also so I have the right to cancel this auction if it sells here. I would like a $500 no refundable deposit within 5 daysof the auctions end. I'm a serious seller and I want a serious buyer. I do not want to waste my time or yours. The buyer is also responsible for the shipping of the car as well although I may be able to help with this or haul thecar for you if we can work out afair deal. This car also has a clear Iowa title.
