1955 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible 2014 Rose Parade Car
I am pleased to offer this meticulously maintained and fully restored 1955 Cadillac Series 62 convertible. This #'s matching beauty only has 65,8XX +/- original miles. Very few of these cars exist anymore in this condition that are not rusted out or neglected. Current owner has owned it for about four years and has successfully restored the car to its original glory. VIN # is 556269690. This car was selected to be a parade car in the 2014/15 Rose Parade in Pasadena, CA. See following press release: "This year's class of Rose Bowl Game Hall of Fame Inductees will ride down Colorado Blvd. in a sharp, fully restored 1955 Cadillac Series 62 convertible, provided by Geoff A. The inductees are Knute Rockne (represented by his grandson, Knute Rockne III), Dick Vermeil, and Ki-Jana Carter." Back to the car:This beautiful car has been carefully restored with care and attention by owner. The interior was thoroughly redone and is like new. Some mechanical upgrades performed include the addition of a fuel pump and a four barrel carburetor for more power. The car was upgraded with a new specially coated windshield, four Coker wheels, a new convertible top, new rubbers & glass, re-chroming everywhere and much more. Seat belts were installed in the back along with new logo mats. The matching hard parade boot for the top is included. There a few minor issues to note: The original radio is not working but there is an updated modern radio installed in the glove box. Mechanically, the car is running, driving and stopping beautifully - properly and meticulously maintained and serviced. The electric/power convertible top works smoothly. Body is straight. No rust has been reported or detected. Power steering works and feels smooth. A/C was an option on these back in 1955 and the car is equipped to accommodate it (but does not include it). Comes with original owner's manuals. This is a huge car, approx 223.2″ in length and a curb weight of 4500-5000 lbs. A little more than 8000 of these convertibles were made by Cadillac in 1955. What a stunning car this is. Having undergone a pretty thorough restoration, the car shows extremely well. Harley Earl designed some exquisite cars during his tenure with Cadillac and these 1955 Series 62's are no exception. From the massive chrome front bumper with the famous "Dagmars" to the beautiful stainless steel polished side moldings finishing up at the rear with its impressive bumper that have the exhausts exiting through the bumper corners, these cars truly are a piece of art to be admired and driven. Power comes from the famous Charles Kettering designed engine that was first introduced in 1949. It is a 331 cubic inch overhead valve V8, originally rated at 250 horsepower. This coupled to an automatic transmission made these cars a brilliant driver in their day and still pretty impressive today, considering they're 62 years of age. Power steering, power convertible top, power brakes, power windows and power seat were all part of the luxurious package from Cadillac. Additionally, this car has the hard parade boot, chrome wire wheels, wide whitewall tires, rear fender skirts and the Autronic eye for dipping the headlights, (I doubt it works but you never know and it sure looks cool and creates a lot of questions from today's young people). The original AM Radio is in the dash with an AM/FM Stereo in the glovebox. The body and panel fit, interior and straight sides are a credit. Finished in Aquamarine (Paint Code 32) With blue and white leather interior and tan convertible top. Specs:Paint code 94 - Bahama Blue Trim code 32 - light blue metallic leather seat and seat back inserts with white leather trim Engine: This transaction will be a private party sale.
