Cadillac broadened its market coverage in 1936 with the introduction of the series 60 family of vehicles â€" completely new to Cadillac. They were priced very fairly and showed extraordinary performance. They ran on a 121-inch wheelbase which was 7 inches shorter than the smallest 1935 Cadillac. New also for 1936 was the redesigned L-Head V-8 with 322 cubic-inches which was rated at 125 bhp. Behind it was a three speed manual transmission. All 1936 Cadillacs were equipped with GM's knee-action ...independent front suspension and had the new duo-servo hydraulic brakes. Also new to this Cadillac was a center-point steering and a front stabilizer bar which was an industry first and complimented the carry-over rear stabilizer bar and contributed to the exceptional handling on the 36's. There were three series 60 body styles; a three window coupe four-door sedan and a sporty convertible couple w/ rumble seat. All of the bodies were done by Fisher â€" the larger Cadillac vehicles had bodies finished by Fleetwood.
