OFFERS WELCOME! Evolve Motors & Chicago Car Club are pleased to present this 1977 Cadillac Sedan deVille! 1977 marked the 75th anniversary of Cadillac, and also marked the first year of the fifth-generation, “downsized” deVille coupes and sedans. While still quite a large car, at 221 inches long and over 4000lbs, the ‘77 Sedan Deville was nine inches shorter, 4 inches narrower, and 1,000lbs lighter than the ‘76 car that preceded it. This ‘77 example is an extremely well-preserved example of what is arguably Cadillac’s most iconic model, the Sedan deVille. Even with a hulking 7.0L V8, this car is all about comfort; this car comes from a time when the Cadillac name was synonymous with top-level luxury. This car can really only be described as a dream boat, it floats down the road in smooth, effortless silence. This ‘77 Sedan deVille has covered just 34,818 miles over the course of its 40 year life. The condition of the car is extremely impressive inside, out, and underneath; it has certainly been babied since being delivered new to Oregon on New Years Eve of 1976. Car will be sold with all original manuals and booklets. We purchased the car out of Wisconsin, where it had been for the last twenty years. Exterior: First off, paint. Sovereign Gold Metallic is a color that only a 70s deVille could pull of so well. Paint is excellent, with only minor blemishes. Blemishes include some touched-up chips and small scratches on the lower driver rear quarter and rear door, as well as some chipping on the forward-most portion of the driver’s side rear wheel skirt. Paint is confirmed original throughout, with an elcometer showing readings of 2.0-3.0 on every panel. The clear coat is not peeling or showing it’s age, the paint finish is very impressive considering it’s now 40 years old. Chrome is excellent throughout, and really completes the look of this big sedan. There is no oxidation or damage on the chrome at all; it shines nice and bright with a mirror-like finish everywhere – bumpers, door handles, trim, etc. Top is in excellent condition, with no scratches, scrapes, or damage. All doors close without any fuss. Trunk has an electronic soft-close feature and is functional. Glass and light lenses are all clear and crack-free throughout. Wheels are excellent, with no damage or curb rash. We often see rust bubbles forming under the rocker trim on these cars, this car is not bubbling, lower corners and door jambs are all in good shape. Interior: The interior is in fantastic shape, a true time capsule. Light buckskin cloth seats show minimal wear both front and rear. There is no fraying, tears, discoloring, or scuffs. Wood on door panels and dash presents as-new, with no fading or peeling. Powered systems are all functional, including windows, AM/FM radio, air conditioning, heat, defrost, power antennae, all interior lights, clock, all gauges, wipers, cruise control, and power locks. Carpets are stain and tear free both front and rear and the car will also come with the original Cadillac floormats. Headliner is nice and tight. Dash is excellent, no cracks or damage. Odometer is functional and reads 34,818 miles, which is accurate. Under the Hood / Underbody: This Sedan deVille retains its original 425cid 7.0L V8 and 3-speed TH-400 automatic transmission. The car runs and drives extremely well. It starts right up immediately, idles cool and steady, and tracks nice and straight down the road. Brakes feel very good, with no hooking in either direction. The car has no tendencies or noises of concern; it eats up speedbumps and potholes quietly and smoothly. With the windows up this car is very quiet, it does an excellent job of muffling road and engine noise. Underneath, the car is in phenomenal shape. Absolutely no through rust to be found. Frame rails and rockers are nice and solid. Overall, this ‘77 Sedan deVille is a well-preserved garage-queen that, with it’s original gold metallic paint, is a real time-capsule back to 1977. Buy with confidence, we wouldn’t hesitate to drive it across the country tomorrow. Reach out to Jake at 773-303-6122 with any questions, requests, or to discuss purchasing.
