Car description |
---|
I have a Beautiful 1963 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible in Alpine White, Black top and Red leather interior. I have painfully decided that I just do not have the time to enjoy this beauty and therefor have decided to sell.
I found, fell in love with and bought the Caddy in August 2006. She had 110,000 miles and was in need of updating, maintenance and some general TLC.
I went to work on the car intending to upgrade and update for convenience, safety and reliability while keeping her original looks. She presently has 128,450 original miles on the V8 390cid/325hp 4 bbl which is bolted to the 3 speed hydramatic (jetaway) transmission. The engine was removed and completely rebuilt in 2008 at 118,000 miles.
Since owning her I have:
Replaced points with electric ignition (2007)
Rebuilt the steering box (08)
Rebuilt the power steering (08)
Rebuilt original carb (06)
Replaced heater core (08)
Replaced speedometer cable (08)
Replaced Convertible Top using stay-fast material (07)
Converted original radio to am/fm/aux with new speakers (06)
Converted radio to iPhone/pandora (16)
Replaced all rubber seals (06)
Replaced/Upgraded front brake to power disc with new master cylinder (07)
Rebuilt drive shaft (08)
Replaced/Upgraded with exact reproduction 3 row radiator (08)
Replaced alternator and belts (10)
Replaced all shocks(16)
Replaced front end components and align (16)
Replaced all tires (16)
Replaced floor mats with exact reproduction (15)
Rebuilt Front and Back seats and reupholstered in red leather (15)
Replaced carpet with original red loop (15)
My Caddy is equipped with power windows, power 6 way front seat, power antenna, delay wipers, remote driver mirro, vent windows, heater/defog/deice with 3 speed fan, matching seat belts (no they were not standard) and clock. She was repainted once before I owned her and the Alpine White looks great. She still has her original dash with original working instrumentation, original dash pad, original front and rear interior door panels and original hub caps. She comes with the original owners manual, shop manual, sales brochure, advertisements and a dust cover.
This classic is in excellent condition and idles, runs and cruises like a charm! She is an amazing piece of history however she is not a new car. She has some 54 year old character and charm as follows:
The chrome has peeled off a small portion of the left front fender. (see photo)
There is a small crease in the rear fender. (see photo)
The clock was rebuilt but is now correct twice a day.
There is an oil drip at the rear main seal. I had the engine rebuilder and 2 other mechanics try to stop the leak but to no avail. This is apparently an original design flaw and I have decided to live with it. Other than that I believe she is in great shape. She could be driven anywhere any distance without worry. She is a pleasure to drive and a real head turner. NADA Classics and Hagerty have her valued between 29 and 40K. The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time.If you have questions, need more pictures or wish to discuss anything please email me your number and I will get back to you. Thanks for looking, Ernie
