Car description

Up for auction with a low starting price and NO RESERVE is a beautiful 1985 CADILLAC ELDORADO CONVERTIBLE. The odometer on the carindicates the mileage is43,850 but I don't know if this is original or not. Because of the age of the vehicle, the Pennsylvania title reads "odometer disclosure exempt by federal law".
One of the first things you need to know is that it was repainted a non-original color. Thecolor of this Eldorado isNOT the metallic red you normally see on these cars. Itis difficult to see in some of the photos, but I want you to be aware that the paint on this Cadillac has aPURPLE hue to it.It isvery sharp, butit is not original. The overallcondition ofthe paint, which appears to have been applied by a chainbody shop like Maaco, is ingood overall condition. If I were to keep the car, I wouldprobably repaint the trunk lid because there is a spot where thepaint is starting to lift (see last photo), and there is a spot where the paint has turned white from fading (see next to last photo). The rest of the paint is good. Thereare no dents or scratches except veryminor ones. There is no rust on the body. The floor and trunk are rust free.
The chrome is all pretty nice except for in two areas; 1.) the chrome plating on theplastic that surrounds the headlights is very dull, 2.) thechrome on the widetrim where the top boot attaches to the area in front of the trunk lid has peeled on the driver's side only(see 3rd photo from end).
The top is very nice, PERIOD. It is clean, there is no shrinkage, there is no fraying on the edges and it goes up and down like a dream at the touch of a button. The top fits tight around the windows. The top latches are not broken and work well. The headliner is very nice.
The interior is very good with the front seats showing the most wear. The stitching on the driver's seat bottom is starting to come apart, but there are no rips or tears. The door panels, headliner and rugs are in good condition but the dash pad needs replaced because a past ownerperformed a make shift repair by gluing a piece of vinyl over a large crack which you can see in the photos. Both power seats, power mirrors, and power door locks work. All of the power windows operate but the right rear window needs to be helped up. The radio works AND THE POWER ANTENNA GOES UP AND DOWN! The blower motor for the climate control works but the air conditioning is not cold.
This 1985 Cadillac Eldorado convertible runs and drivesvery good. The engine is quiet; there is no smoking, knocking, or rattling. The transmission shifts just like it is supposed to shift. When I got the car out of storage this spring I had to add a pint of tranny fluid to the transmission and there was a small puddle of fluid on the garage floor. I really think thisis only because the car needs to be driven and I only mention it because I want to be forthcoming with what is wrong with the car. Again, the transmission performs great. The matching brand tires have lots of tread life remaining and show even wear. The car has a brand new battery.
I bought this carabout 6 months ago becauseI always thought the1984-85 Eldorado convertibles were one of the most beautifully designed cars ever built. I stillbelievethis but Ihave decided to put my time, money and energy into another one of my collector cars. My loss is your gain.As with any car I have ever sold, this car is sold as-is.If you have any questions, pleasedon't hesitate to contact me.If youare the winner of the auction,a 500.00 deposit is required within 48 hours of the auction end.The balance is due within 7 days of theend of the auction. Thank you for your time.
