1965 CADILLACCALAIS
"The Calais Series replaced the Sixty-Two line for 1965,after the French Townand resortwhich overlooks the narrowest point in the English Channel.A broader, more unified grille and vertically mounted headlamps featured the styling improvements. The Cadillac tailfin was said to be gone, but symmetrical rear fender forms tapered to very thin edges, top and bottom, giving a very traditional visual impression. Curved side windows with frameless glass were new. Perimeter frame construction allowed repositioning of engines six inches forward in the frame, thus lowering transmission humps and increasing interior room."
This 1965 Calais is a clean title car, an original California Cadillac, with a few tasteful upgrades. Still wearing its original black plates, this Cadillac is solid, rust free, with excellent original floors. It was refreshed a few years back with a new paint job, complete custom interior, extensive professionallyinstalled sound system, and was equipped with custom wheels. The original wheels are available, with excellent tires. During the last 9 months, the car has received some more extensive mechanical work. The 429 has been rebuilt, with the transmission.Approximately 500 miles since rebuilt. The carburetor rebuilt, radiator recored, starter and alternator replaced, new batteries, gas tank flushed, new exhaust, brakes serviced, and more. Other electricalnuancesthat came up also got addressed; such as power window switches, windshield wiper motor, and more. Currently the Cadillac is in great mechanical condition, and reliable. The body is solid and was repainted in a quality (2 stage) metallic paint. The car was painted a few years back and has been used regularly, therefore it has acquired a few minor scratches visible up close, and touch ups. All weatherstripping was replaced during repaint, and looking good. Almost all the chrome has been redone in the last year. This Cadillac is equipped with xenon headlights, a Crutchfield remote security system, with power trunk, and power door locks! The interior was nicely done a few years back and looks professional, complete, and clean. The seats were replaced with custom upholstery, doors and panels completely redone withalcantara suede, leather with stitching. Headliner with sun visors inalcantara suede, all interior trim is there and beautiful, with custom speaker panels housing 4 total speakers, and redone dash. The car was insulated with Dynomat before the new carpet was installed. The trunk is nicely done with Dynomat throughout, with 2 amps, bass regulator and stereoequipmenthidden behind side panels, and 2 12" subwoofers in a custom box. The suspension has been redone during prior ownerships. The brakes are power, with disc in front, drum in the back. This beautiful Calais is being sold in Los Angeles CA, on behalf of the owner, who is a close friend.
